The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

A friend of mine and I are thinking about making a Martian varient of the standard CMC uniform for Dragon con. The armor as well as the BDUs will be a little different in design(and obviously the camouflage). I don't yet have a concept drawing down, but I'd just like some input on whether you all think this would be a worthwhile venture or not.
Thanks

Alright, here's the concet drawing. I apologize for the ill proportioning and the poor quality of it, but it was just a sketch. As far as color scheme goes...well, that's the easy part, this was just to display the structural part of it.

Aside from the difference in coloration, the chest plate would have an adaptation of form and the uniform itself would be completely different. Rather than a set of two piece BDUs, it would be more akin to a flight suit. Tactically speaking, the less opening in your clothing, the less likely dust and sand is to get in ;)

Are you planning on doing some kind of customised camouflage on the overalls? Have you considered hand-painting with a wide brush? You can get some excellent colour variations and schemes with that method.

Yes, I had considered custom camoflauge on the cloth uniform. Myself and Fox there are still in debate over what we want though. Time might also become an issue though. I work roughly 50 hours every week and I'll be the one making the costumes so my first priority is going to be the armor. If we run out of time before DC, we might end up having to go with some BDUs this year, but I'm hoping to have time to make the custom ones.

How about a set of red or tan overalls with orange and brown camo painted on? The base colour should be based on some of those Mars rover photos, but once you have the base colour set, the two or three secondary colours should be easy to decide upon with a colour chart. :)
