It has absolutely nothing to do with Aliens nor even Sci-fi, but I had fun with this project and figured I would post it. This Christmas I decided I would dip my toe back in the metal working world.
I hadn't touched the old hammer and anvil since I built my own metal Colonial Marine armor, but I decided I could use some of what I learned on that project and turn it into something my brother would appreciate as a gift. He is a huge Fantastic Four fan and his favorite villian of all time is of course Dr. Doom.
For the main top of the head, I cut down a steel 'viking' helmet as I am not quite that good at 'dishing' metal into a bowl shape, plus I liked the rivet pattern.
For the face, I went back to the trusty old 'vintage aluminum sled'.

Then I got to cutting, hammering, riveting and polishing. Finally... DOOM!!!

The aluminum face plate is connected to the steel dome with rare earth metal magnets. He told me I 'won Christmas' this year. The only down side is that he now feels like he needs to buy the rest of the body armor to complete his Doom costume now. It was a fun project though.
