Dorkbusters! Seriously though, it only took me 4 months to do it, but here it is! Recipe: 1 - Kakhi Flightsuit 1 - set of knee pads 2 - boxes Rit Pearl Grey Dye 1/2 - box Rit Black 2 - cups table salt 2 - table spoons laundry soap (without bleach) I followed the directions provided at Proptopia about setting up for a full washing machine load, letting it agitate for 5 minutes and then shutting it off, letting the items soak for 15-20 minutes. I used a plastic coat hanger to submerge the suit, and flipped the pads a few times, at the end leaving them float pad side down in the colored soup. After the wash cycle is finished I tumble dried them on the normal setting. I ended up spraying a black rectangle on the inside of each pad to mimic the black cloth/dye on the screen used ones. I then added some black paint to get in the seams on the pad side, and then tried to even it out by using grey primer. I probably should have just left them as-is, but they look "okay." Not great, but okay. The GB1 patch is currently heald on with neon yellow duct tape, pending application of velcro. My name tape (not pictured, currently Venkman...) also needs the velcro treatment. And without further ado... My Ghostbusters uniform flightsuit! Photo outdoors in bright sunlight it almost looks kakhi again... Indoors... Who you gonna... oh, never mind. See, sometimes I actually DO finish a prop... Now all I have to do is build my proton pack. Right now that's like saying all I have to do is finish paying off my house. I know there's at least one other 'buster out there. Come on Dan, show some pics of your stuff that puts mine to shame. Like it would take much effort. I could show you pictures of the boxes full of proton pack parts I have accumulated. I still need to figure out how to weld Aluminum. I'd love to have an AL plate proton pack. That would be more durable than fiberglass/resin and possibly be lighter as well. Anyone used a MIG or TIG welder before?
