We ( yes that hamsome devil is our own mr ripstick) also ran into the Fyberdyne guys showing off their new USCM armor. I will try to get a pic tomorrow.

Weirdo? Hey Tony... you ain't seen nothing yet. There were some mighty interesting characters walking about -- Joe can attest to that.

Here's a photo of Aaron (Ed Endress' son of Fyberdyne) sportin' his version of the USCM armour which if I recall correctly was used for one of the video games. Unfortunately Aaron was stopped by security and not allowed entry with his pulse rifle, so he had to walk the show practically naked...

Don't even start on the inaccuracies seen here... with the exception of the helmet cam, it appears as though everything was custom fabricated. I stopped by Ed's booth several times to talk to him about it, but he was never there.

This happened to be one of the writers of a comicbook called "Talon". His pal ran off to get security before the situation got too out of hand.

Russ, you reminded me of an idea I had this weekend. With my family out of town, I went to Wiz World in the morning and the Ren Fair in the afternoon. A lot of driving and expensive. Since many SciFi fans are also Ren fans, this might work. Get a SG team together and go to the Ren Faire as a SG-1 mission. If everyone looks at us funny or pissed off that we don't belong, well, guess what, that is like every episode of SG-1. If we are lucky, people will "Get it" and it will be the episode where the natives greet us with food and strong drink and one of the team "get's lucky".

I had my two leg pistols swung around to the backs of my legs and my shoulder sling pistols tucked back under my arms as not to draw much attention to them when I walked in -- just in case.

Once you're in, you're golden. Just don't act stupid and careless with your prop weapon(s).

Joe, that is an AWESOME idea! I'd be game! Ironically, my friend Thomas who costumed as Durge went to the Ren Faire on Sunday. I was invited to go, but I was already pretty beat, and had a mere $12.00 left in my pocket, so I passed.

Funny you should mention SG-1 at the Ren Fest, because last year one of the SG-C.net members did just that, sans weapons. They got a lot of people coming up to them thinking they worked for the Faire.

Those suits were built in 1986 right after the movie came out. Wow...I cannot believe they have held up that great. It was the first set of USCM armor I ever owned. I still have it in storage somewhere. Nice stuff. Fiberglass. Inaccurate..yeah...but insanely cool, well constructed...and just fun!

Nice. That armor would pass with flying colors if it were painted in more "traditional ALIENS colors."
