I hate these dilemma's. I always wanted a M1 Thompson so I could make a working, shooting M41A Pulse Rifle. I have been looking around, always keeping an eye out. All of a sudden, on my favorite Canadian gun site www.canadiangunnutz.com, I found one. Of course, I emailed him and he sent a picture (a crappy one) Our dopy gun laws will only let us have 5 shot mags in centerfire shoulder controlled firearms. This SMG has been converted to semi-auto only. ![]() Comments troops? Mike A06/TQ2.0.22134E1 There is nothing more impressive than a bloody big Alien wiggling on the end of a sharp stick! |

looks kick ass man...great condition from the looks of the pic...but i am curious... ![]() it says "coverted full auto" but if u look about the trigger theres what looks like a "u" shaped plate...on the full auto versions there is a middle part to that. semi auto: full auto: see what i mean? Hey Mike, That's pretty expensive for a semi-auto Thompson -- unless prices have doubled in the last 6 months or so without me knowing it. I've come across a couple semi-auto M1A1 Thompsons about 6 to 8 months back, and they were all priced between $800 and $1100 USD. Oh wait... is that price in Canadian dollars? This would be no good for taking to a con, but definitely nice if you want to go out and shoot it. A working M41A pulse rifle is definitely a dream that many of us have. The lack of readily available aluminum shrouds seems to be one of the biggest stumbling blocks, that is, behind actually owning a real M1A1 to start with. Here's a picture of my full-auto M1A1 Thompson lower receiver: Take note of the red circle which shows the piece missing on the semi-auto M1A1. This is the selector switch which is held in place by the spring tab on the plate on the opposite side of the receiver which is what's missing in the photos of the semi-auto version. Hope that helps. ![]() Rick "Ripstick" |

Oh yeah... one last thing. If you're seriously interested in this, ask him if the bolt has a 'floating' or a 'fixed' firing pin, and if the safety is a pin-and-barrel switch or the earlier 'paddle' version. The 'floating' firing pin is more desirable as well as the 'paddle' version of the safety and selector switches, but the pin-and-barrel switches are canon for Aliens pulse rifles. Here's a shot of one of my earlier M1A1's with the paddles: And here's a shot of the reverse side showing the metal plate with the tension spring tab in place for the auto selector switch: Rick "Ripstick" |

After another email, he sent me 3 more pix of the left side. This one was the best for our interest sake Fixed firing pin, mint bore, pin-and-barrel selectors for saftey and fire selection. Interesting, it's a M1A1. ![]() Oh so tempting. Think I'll have to flip of couple of other guns to buy this baby. Very interesting... They left the selector switch intact for the most part, but shaved off the nub on the opposite side and most likely have it welded or otherwise bonded into the 'SINGLE' position. Usually I've seen either the entire switch left completely intact but bonded or otherwise made immovable, or all of the externals of the switch completely removed and the holes welded shut. I guess the guidelines for converting these to semi-auto are rather loose in that area. Still, a nice gun to own. ![]() Rick "Ripstick" |

It's a nice piece of kit Mike... what can I tell you...? Problem is... could you ever bring that thing as an assembled PR to any Canadian 'con...? ![]() Would make an awesome conversation piece, though. <span style="color:lime;]Cpl.
