I have Roxio Media creator 7, and I am considering upgrading to 9. Does anyone have a software program that they like for video editing?
I would like to be able to rip scenes from a movie/DVD to create funny trailers and the like.

I just use Windows Media for editting and save to avi for encoding using VirtualDub.
I don't dabble in effects though so thats the limit of my capability.

I may try a little flash this weekend though.

I use EditStudio by Puremotion, it's easy to use yet on a par with software many times the price.

To avoid starting a different thread on this, but in turn trying ton to hijack....

I have a small flash video on my website. When I run the html file its embeded into from my computer it plays fine when the page loads. When I upload the 34kb swf file and the html file to the ftp server and run it from the web it does not play.

Anyone got any ideas?

To keep it on topic I used flash to encode the video :P

I usually use Pinnacle Studio. Very easy and has loads of features (like DVD menu creation), but can be a bit unstable at times.

T&C: If you give us the link we could try it and see if it works for us. You haven't put the path of your PC into the href have you? e.g. file://localhost/F:/websites/wip/something.swf

The swf was in a seperate folder.
I have the layout of the files and folders the same on my hard drive as the server. So the index is in the main folder and the swf is in a folder called vid
So in the html its vid/intro.swf

I put them in the same folder, same thing.
I need to try some variables and I'll post it here and let you know. Thanks.
Apologies for the hijack!!

Tony: When I go straight to the swf mentioned in your source (www.colonialmarines.net/vid/intr.swf) I get:

HTTPError 404 - File or directory not found.

[edit] You missed the "o" off  I tried "...intro.swf" and it worked.

I had many vids uploaded, int, intr and intro - lucky guess :P

It should be working now though. Can you confirm?
If not I'll just change it to intro and go from there :)

I now use Premiere Pro 2 at work (required to), but my heart belongs to Vegas. Usability and flow is SOOO much better.

It doesn't work for me. I still get a white box, and the source still says "vid/intr.swf", but there isn't a file called that there.

Are you using the indextest.htm or just the index.html??
I think i removed all vids except the ones linked to in the index.html file.

try www.colonialmarines.net/index.html

That's better! "index.html" works okay.
