The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Here is the deal.

I had planned to drive down with some married friends from high school, from Utah to Atlanta. And they would continue on to Florida, where they would have a vacation with some of their family. Then catch a ride back with them on their return trip. Saving me a boatload of money, not having to rent a car, and only having to pay my share of gas, and use my commercial driving skills.

Last night their marriage melted down worse than a reactor breach! Infidelity, Law enforcement, and assault charges, have destroyed all of those plans.
Friends getting arrested by other friends SUCKS!

So it comes down to not getting a motel, and sleeping in a rental car. (I am not driving a limited edition Mustang across this country) My options are; hooking up with anyone from the northwest, or west that is going to drive. Or just canceling, and putting my D*Con card in a frame. And save up more for 2015.

I would love to. BUT....

There has been two attempted car jacking in Las Vegas. 1 in SLC. And people have tried to steal it from parking garages (broken windows, damage to steering column). I don't park it anywhere I cant see it, or my garage.

looking on Google Flights, Salt Lake to Atlanta return flights, Thursday through Monday:

I thought of flying. But, the only motel room I can get is 12 miles out. And I can't stand flying! I hate the TSA with a passion!

here is a quick little update. Vacation cancelled. Do people from the office decided to go off and quit. So I'm not going to be able to make it. There's always next year, unless of course there's an alien invasion, supervolcano or complete total meltdown of the economy. I will make it next year. I hope.

but on a side note, there is going to be a convention the next weekend here in Utah so I'm going to go to that at least one day

Jesus you must be management if 2 people quit where I worked I would just say sorry, plans. BYE!! Plenty more retail drones buzzing about.

If you think about going next year let me know. I live in Denver. Too far out to make plans yet. No relationship issues to work around.

Here in the UK, if you have a holiday booked and approved, your employer cannot cancel it without your prior and written consent. No matter what the staffing levels are. This protects employees from loosing lots of money by having to cancel paid for holidays.

At my work, the rule is, you apply for time off at work, wait until you get a confirmed vacation slot and THEN book your hotels/flights/etc.

Archangel, my brother Mike (Wildcard) is now based in Lehi (having moved from the UK) and will be working on the eBay stand at the SLC Comic Con 4-6, if you're looking to hookup with UT based USCM.

He should have his USCM camo boonie with him... (I have to renovate his metal armour and prep his USCM gear for shipping out Stateside)

One quick little update on my life. This job BLOWS THE BIG ONE! I am quitting it and going back to over the road commercial driving. So next year I am just going to ask my NEW boss to get me a run down there!

That means I will be PAID to drive to D*Con!
