The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

This is a non-Aliens project. I'm looking to have a set of custom dog tags made, in metal....just like the ones worn by military. I need four lines and I'd like the tags to NOT have that "notch" in them.

Anyone know of a reliable place I can have such a thing made?

You mean standard tags with 4 lines of text, either stamped or embossed in?
LOADS of places do those, for about a fiver a pair. Google or eBay brings a metric f**k-ton of 'em.

WW2 era tags have the notch and the text is stamped in.
Vietnam era tags onward do not have the notch and the text is stamped in.
More recent tags have no notch and the text is embossed like a credit card.

I actually had a set made for eachof my dogs... yet seem to spend FAR too much time explaining to idiotic people why my dogs are wearing *dog* tags!!

I have dealt with these guys and their service is awesome in my experience!

They have many styles including WWII style tags

I suppose I'm looking for a Viet Nam style and upward tag with embossed letters.\

Moosh, thanks for that suggestion, I was really hoping for a suggestion for a place someone had done business with.

Ttask, thank you for the suggestions as well!

Embossed is the modern style.
Most places I've seen offer those now. In fact, stamped notch ones are getting harder to find, especially proper ones with the rolled edge.
