The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey everyone, I've been lurking around here for awhile and finally got around to enlisting.

I've been into costuming for a long time and I'm even in a Ghostbuster group that does a lot if charity events. However, I've been hoping to throw together some marine armor for years, so here I am :)

Any suggestions for a good starting point? I've been thinking pepakura (spelling?) to start. Good idea or bad idea?

Welcome! :)

There's an 'official' introduction thread over in the Ready Line, so bung a "Hello!" over there too. 8)

Another new member asked a similar question and here's the reply:

One thing I've seen with the pep files is that the sides of the armour are too deep, making the back and chest fit someone the size of a silverback gorilla, so check how the card pattern fits you before making up the fibreglass version. :)

The sides of the pep armour are not only deep but too close together, if you have the physique of a He-Man figure; your sorted but otherwise you'll need to widen the supporting struts and alter the rim piece.

Thanks PVB, don't know how I missed the intro thread, scanning too quick I suppose. I'll check out that other thread about the pep files.

As to the fitting, don't worry, I'm not gonna glass it unless I know the sizing is right. I definitely don't have a He-man figure, so I'll look into the struts as well. Thanks for the advice guys, I really appreciate it!
