The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Local theater is running it for the weekend as a midnight show. The last time this was shown was nine years ago when the special directors cut came out.

I plan on wearing my 3D chestbuster shirt and Nostromo hat.

Nine years ago - Did they also screen Aliens alongside it back then, do you know?

Not at that time, no. If they had, I would have died from joy. Never have seen Aliens run a second time around here, I need to see if this same theater can get it too.

Pretty uneventful. Wore my chestbuster shirt and the only person who said anything was the ticket taker, "sweet shirt man!".

Oh well, that's not why I was there.

There were maybe a dozen people there. Nice to see this on the big screen, saw plenty of stuff I never saw on the small screen, heard lots of stuff as well.

Was it a large cinema or a little local fleapit sort of affair?
I love the little places - Reminds me of the Odeon we used to have!

Anything stand out in particular? Please share! 8)

Oh and was this the 2003 edition again?

Have to say I really wish I was old enough to experience seeing ALIEN the first time around in '79. Not just the thrill of the movie, but witnessing the audience reaction first hand as well!

I think my favourite bit of the documentary on the Quad disc, is when they discussed the reactions of horror from the moviegoers- one guy literally saying out loud "HOLY SHIT!" when Brett goes looking for Jonesy then covering his ears and hurring up the aisle with his head down. Another usher actually fainted from the "Parker takes Ash's head off" scene!

Wish I could have been there!

I love the bit on that documentary when Ron Cobb said he was still shaking when he was trying to unlock his car door – and then realised it wasn't his car

Ttaskmaster, it was a large cinema...the only one in town!

SgtBurton, I don't know what version this was, but it sure as heck wasn't the 2003 version! I thought it would be since the last time it was shown was back in 2003. I kept waiting for those scenes like when Lambert plays the distress beacon recording with the derelict pilots "voice", or the scene where Kane gets close to the egg, it opens and he draws his weapon.
None of that, none. :(

So I guess this one was closer to the 1979 version, I wonder if it was an original print? If so, it was in pretty good condition, no yellowing, no jumps where the film had fallen/broken apart and was then repaired.
