Woot!!

Well ol' "Toshi" the Toshiba, a cheap $300 Staples laptop finally started to crap out after 4 years of heavy use. I learned a lot on that thing! I taught myself the basics of design and 3D modeling, started a ruckus for Playable Females, and made some awesome friends!

It was only supposed to be a placeholder laptop until I got another kick ass one. The time came and the new laptop came yesterday!

It came with Windows 8... I hate change, so I figured I'd not like Windows 8 since it feels like a giant smartphone. Well turns out you can customize it to look like just about any OS you want! I really liked the look of Windows 7.

There's a few options out there to get back your "Start" button since for some reason Windows 8 ditched it. I went with "Start8", which cost me $5. As soon as I bought it and the reality sank in that I just paid $5 for a button, I immediately started to regret my purchase... But then I played with it some more and now I am pretty excited about it!! You can reskin the button to look like ANYTHING!!

So what did I do??

I made an ALIEN EGG!!

I just whipped this up quickly, I am sure I could make a much better one, but I just wanted to see if it would work haha. I'd make it bigger next time

It basically looks like this when not interacting with it:



When you hover over it, it glows!:



And, When you click it, IT OPENS!!:



I was pretty excited about it anyway haha.

This is also my "Lock Screen". You have to click it to be able to sign in:



If anyone is interested I can make some more stuff for people to use and download for their own computers Maybe you guys/girls have Windows 8 as well, and would like to customize it

Anyway!. My new computer should make modeling much easier! With bonus of being able to play A:CM on PC as well as PS3!!

Start8 I do think is the best Windows8 add-on there is when it comes to usability.
Yes there are free 'bring back the start button' apps but Start8 is stable and light and like Moosh says it's very customizable and well worth the money in my opinion.

Windows 8.1 is in pre-release at the moment, and should be out later in the year for all windows 8 users. It's basically a "reverse the silly mistakes we made" service pack, including adding the Start menu button back, and making it boot straight to the desktop instead of the start menu.

I used to have several Aliens dialogue snippets as various alerts on an old Windows 98 computer including;

Hicks :- "It's Game Time" for Windows Start Up
Hudson :- "Game Over Man! Game Over" for Windows Shutdown
Ferro :- "We're In The Pipe Five By Five" for New Email Alert
Vasquez :- "Lets ROCK!" for one or more of the Error Alerts.

I think I still have these and a few other dialogue wav files if you want them?
