So driving on some back roads I come across this lazy turtle. Being the animal protector that I am...I stop my car, get out and try and figure out how I'm going to move it. The problem being, is that it's a gigantic snapping turtle with a shell that was about 14" front to back, and about 9" side to side.
Now...I'm pretty educated with my local wild life. But that doesn't mean I go handling it...but I was fairly confident if I grabbed it near the back of the shell, it couldn't bite me. But, I was also worried about it's claws...
Anyway, I pick it up, gently and slowly and begin walking it off the road to one of the large drainage ditches...AND HOLY S**T IT ALMOST TOOK MY F**KING ARM OFF!!!
It snapped around back at my hand with such speed I jumped about 2 feet in the air, and dropped it on the ground so it face planted on the gravel shoulder.
Luckily another motorist had stopped and helped me move it off the road and into safety. Anyway...lol.
Here's a glamour shot...
