So, while working on a 1/6th representation of Kurt Russell's character in "Soldier", Sgt. Todd, I found this-

First cool thing I found was his Service Record- all his commendations are based off his previous characters. But then I looked up and saw:
Ordnance Levels
3008 USCM Smartgun

I don't know if this is a fan made item, it may very well be, as I found a similar one, but had another weapon added- it was "PNG" file though and wouldn't upload.

Anyhow, though it pretty cool.

That's pretty cool. At one part of the movie, I believe in the beginning, there was a list of all of the conflicts he served in. I tried at one time getting all of them on a list, but I lost that list a while ago. I think too that he had them tattooed one arm.

It's not fanmade- that was actually in the movie!

However there is even more!

As that "combat log" fades out (to show Todd sitting on his rack) if you watch very carefully, juuuuust before it completely fades out, in his ordnance levels box it says M41A Pulse Rifle! :delta:

Bottom left corner: Kurt Russell / Goldie Hawn.

There's also a pile of other 'odd' weaponry he's been trained with- including the Laser-Bolo (from the original 1970s Battlestar Galatica), the MKVI BFG (from Doom) and the Illudium PU36 Explosive Space Modulator (As threatened to be used on Bugs Bunny by Marvin The Martian!)

Also note the Awards/Medals are from movies Kurt starred in:
The battles of Tannhauser Gate and Shoulder of Orion (references to Blade Runner) -
Receipt of the "Plissken Medal" (reference to Escape from New York and its sequel Escape from L.A.).
Receipt of the "O'Neil Ring Award" (reference to Stargate) -
Receipt of the "Cash Medal of Honor" (reference to Tango & Cash)
Receipt of the "Maccready Cross" (reference to The Thing) -
Receipt of the "Capt Ron Trophy" (reference to Captain Ron) -
Receipt of the "McCaffrey Fire Award" (reference to Backdraft) -
Receipt of the "Dexter Riley Award" (reference to The Strongest Man in the World, Now You See Him, Now You Don't, The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes) -
Citations for the Nibian Moons Campaign, the Antares Maelstrom War and the War Of Perdition's Flames, locations referred to in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

Holy nerd-gasm there. That must be the most epic easter-eggy set of full on obvious nods in the history of cinema. Too cool.

Kurt Russell starred in Blade Runner? I must have missed that version.

No no, he wasn't in Blade Runner- they are just referencing that great Sci-Fi film. Just like he wasn't in Star Trek: II either, but they mention the Moons of Nibia, Antares Maelstrom etc (from Khan's speech in ST:II).

At the end of the film when Todd and the other soldiers are looking for a new home in their aquired spacecraft- on the viewscreen one of the choices is the Anoat System (referencing The Empire Strikes Back).

Oh and there is a wrecked Spinner (from Blade Runner) in the Colonist habitat. 8)

"Soldier" has a million of these nuggets strewn throught the film. Unfortunately while a great concept and a terrific performance by Russell (who barely has any lines), I found this film lacking the "punch" of similar one man army films. I blame Anderson.

Soldier is supposed to be set in the Blade Runner universe, and Russel's character is a Nexus model replicant.

I knew it was supposed to be in the same universe but I've never heard the replicant thing.

Umm... Impossible as his character is born, grows up, and is 38 years old by the events of the film. Certainly not the four year lifespan of replicants.

Maybe Caine was a replicant, but that would be the point of the film- an "inferior" human soldier is replaced by a "superior" genetically engineered soldier.

Hm. I need to rewatch, it HAS been a while - Not seen it since it came out on DVD!

If he was a replicant...that would make Anderson more of an ass than he already is.

I remember watching the film, and thinking at the time "This has so many good ideas, and a good star and decent effects....so why is mediocre?"

Less than the sum of it's parts, basically.... Mildly rather than wildly enjoyable.

I think Soldier sucks because it's about one awesome soldier guy and a bunch of homeless people on a trash planet, isn't it? If it was about huge epic soldier future battles it would've been cool.

Waaayyy cool all the stuff Kurt Russell had put into his service record, or rather Sgt. Todd's!

Got another step closer to upgrading my 1/6th Kurt Russell as Sgt. Todd- I have one from several years ago, the German Autumn pea dot camo was sewn into modern bdu style pants- boots were made- still need to verify those are correct, new ones may be even better. Need a new
light brown t-shirt- the head was okay, for it's time. Got a new one from Lonnie at Hero Heads (who made great Hicks, Hudson and Apone)

Hooked up with an artist on the Sideshow forum- he's making me the facial tatto- that'll be waaay cool!
