Was just channel surfing and started watching "American Guns"....they were doing some kinda chopper gunner thing.....gun tech had such a unique ideal to mount a m16 on a steady cam harness...really?!?

dont get me started on that damn show.

look up their "special forces" water cooled double M16 boat gun....or the sherrif boat they added a mark 19 (belt fed grenade launcher) and machine gun too.

still love how they couldnt figure out how to set up a machine gun WITHOUT setting the headspace or timing.......supprised no one died.

I've only watched one episode (worlds biggest flamethrower) and I turned off before the first add break.
Just another crappy Discovery channel program using the same format as American HotRod/Chopper.

Yeah I saw that while I was down in Florida last week. That guy made it sound like it was the most original idea. He just made me want to kick him in the nuts.

Thanks!

Greg

Oh dear Christ... I'm watching the same episode right now (don't judge me, I'm on base in Jacksonville for Reserves duty, and I'm bored) and I'm wincing my way through it.

Without even getting into that poor girl Paige, and how her dad is okay with them dressing her like a trailer-park whore for the show... To put the icing on this little plagiarism cake, is it just me... Or is that a "Menbo" brand Chinese knock-off Steadicam these All-American Dudes are using for this build?

(You know, it probably wouldn't bother me half as much if they'd just at least given a nod to where we all know damn well they got the idea from! )

I'm an amateur gunsmith hobbyist, and I have friends and relatives that don't know much about guns, ask me if I watch the shows... Apparently they watch 'em and like 'em.

Frankly, they make me cringe.
They take valuable firearms, and wreck them by making functional or cosmetic changes that are not reversible. This destroys the historical value and resale value.
They use the wrong tools, supposedly by "accident" and then have to fix their mistakes.
They do things that make us all look like idiots, by poor gun safety (Did anyone see 'Suns of Guns' where they shot a bunch of tracers into the woods and set the place on fire???)
And lastly, these are the people that the ATF issue FFLs too, from mom-and-pop store, to the guys that can build "post-sample" machineguns. The show, and the people at the shop, by their own actions, are making themselves out to look like the stereotypical inbred gun-toting redneck that the news and politicians are always after... And these are the guys that are trusted by the Federal Government to manufacture machineguns?

*SIGH!*

Another reality TV show I won't watch.
The most I can stomach is Storage Wars but even then I question the reality behind it.

But Aaron you're spot on and its detrimental to those of us who practise gun safety even with replicas.

Yes... You can get charged with brandishing a firearm, even if it's fake.

I know, I have a friend that did jail time because of it. Even though they were at a photoshoot, and had a filming permit...

A filming permit isn't a 'use weapons on set' permit, found that out the hard way helping out a mate in uni. Luckily the police officer was really nice about the whole thing and we just got told what to get and where to get it, and to put the guns away obviously!

I personally always treat any weapon like a real one, even nerf guns. Never hurts to be safe.
