The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'm suprised they don't put a shot of Jake Busey in there, he's one ugly motherfucker too.

Say what you will about Gary, but personally I think Jake's pretty easy on the eyes.

BBC comedy 'That Mitchell and Webb Look' this week had a short SF-themed sketch. It was quite nicely done, set aboard a spaceship, and visually very reminiscent of Alien/Outland.

Anyway, I think there must be a fan in the BBC design department: the ship was called the Conrad, and their cap badges said 'Yutani Tyrell Con-Am Mining'. It was very subtle (no big close-ups). :)

Quite the mash-up there- "ALIEN", "Bladerunner" and "Outland". 8)

But the "Conrad" reference (although familiar) has gone over my head. :?

I think Nostromo and Sulaco (and Patna) are names taken from novels by Joseph Conrad. So, a pretty obscure reference!

Here's a screencap. The whole thing started with a warning readout saying Infiltration of type 7 replidroids - indistinguishable from human crew.

Those serving trays look familiar (although "ours" were not steel  ).

(Kicking myself over the "Conrad" reference. )

I've just found some Aliens references in SWIV on the Spectrum 128 :D

First there is a sound sample you can play after loading - hear it HERE.

Then, the high score table is full of Aliens references (apart from the first, which is the programmer's name):

Now I know why I hate Amy Winehouse so much. The comparison is kind of hard on the Aliens though.

NBC's 'Community" had ALIENS references with this Halloween ep. Abed dressed up as an Alien while Troy as Ripley in Power Loader. Funny stuff.

Total Nercopost here but I didn't think it was worth starting a new thread.

So I'm watching new BSG's "Razor" tv movie for maybe the 4th or 5th time and heard something I hadn't noticed before.

Near the end on the mission to destroy the Cylon Baseship, four characters have just disembarked from their Raptor before it is destroyed by the Cylons. They are floating together in space...

One pilot says something about still making sure he has all his fingers and toes--- The mission commander (Major Shaw) responds with, "Knock it off Hudson!"

No coincedence here.

HA!

I just noticed another one on BSG. Somebody there must have been a big Aliens fan.

There is an oxygen leak in a cargo bay on Galactica that two characters are trapped in when the automated bulkhead seals them in. The exterior shot shows the cargo bay door where the oxygen is escaping.

The door is labeled "Bay 12". 8)

Watching Dreamcatcher movie last night, the alien spores infecting the people is called 'The Ripley' 'After the broad in the Alien movies' as quoted by Morgan Freeman.

The Shit-Weasels in the film also behave like chest bursters, they are snake like gestate inside human hosts before erupting out of the arse of the victim in a fountain of blood.

Necropost, lol! I just recently played Modern Warfare, and the first mission (the boat) has several lines almost straight from Aliens. It made me chuckle.
