The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Damn Kev, when you decide to make a costume you don't muck around about it. Nicely done.

And as for the T2 variation on the uniform, screencaps, somebody needs to make some screencaps for you guys. If I had a way, they'd be posted already!

I dig the longshot mods, lots and lots man. You might wanna slap one of those cheapo airsoft "silencers" on the front of her. There is a model out there that looks pretty close to the endo rifle.

I never cared for the slim barrel anyway though, so I'd say leave her off.

Anyway, nice work Sarge.

Yep! When I get a head full of steam... :D

I actually do have one of those silencers kicking around. I've just put it on the gun right now with some electrical tape:

Not too sure if I like how it looks. To me the sliencer is a little long compared to the one on the Endo Rifle. I kinda liked the snub nosed look of just the rifle sans silencer.

I also like the ability to re-attach the nose section if I want- so I think the silencer might be out (or just kept on with the tape  ).

LOL, just noticed that line. ;)

If it has big bugs and/or big guns, it's fair game. :)

And good work Kev!

It actually says "Big Bugs and Big Guns" in the forum header so, to make this thread legitimately On-Topic:

You guys are too much!

I would say that since it was directed by Cameron... and had three stars that were also in Aliens (Biehn, Paxton & Henriksen)... and a big theme in the T Series is FIREPOWER... :D

I think it's worthy of the Ready Line.

Thanks for the compliment Scott!

Great costumes on everyones part!
We folks at Hangar 18 were considering doing future-resistance fighters as a group project some years ago, but the project floundered, everyone got busy with real-life distractions, and Hangar 18 changed from a costuming group to a legitimate business. However, we amassed all of the known reference for this costume, I even made my full suit with a custom made padded flak vest made from gray quilted packing blanket material. My friend Martin is keeper of all of the research material, and he was planning on doing the Hicks T-1 version of the future warrior costume.

Just so you know, Reeses jacket is not a WWII tanker jacket, it's a green 1980's issue flight jacket. The film stock and lighting make it look grey.

We even know the model of Hicks' weapon.
The guns in T2 are Muzzlelite bullpups, with a 1980's laser sight mounted on top, I have the mold for the actual laser. The name of the laser mfg. escapes me right now.

We were planning on making several of the helmets with the night vision goggles, and we've got all of that research and most of the parts as well.

I'd love to post pic's, but I have no way to host them.

Great costumes guys! Excellent job.
Scott

Well that's a revelation!!! I guess I should be on the lookout for a flight jacket that looks like the gray colour seen on screen! :D

You could upload them directly to the board (I haven't tried doing that myself yet)- or if you are willing to share- I could host them. You could email them to me: ssgtburton(at)hotmail.com

The second pouch is done and is now a nice gray colour (they should have shot all the future war scenes in black and white- would have saved some money? ).

Now all that's left are the two biggies- the leg guards and shoulder padding.

I started working on the leg guards tonight. So far I just have some pieces cut out of vinyl. I'm using the Hot Toys Reese shin guards as a reference, however the screengrabs I have lead me to believe they are more than just custom leather work. There is a middle section (where the majority of nylon bands go around) that looks like a stiff material- much like and actual shin protector. Much as I trust Brian I think DSB is right that these could possibly be a found item.

But the found item will have to wait as an upgrade.

So I have to get this done for next Saturday (the 27th) when most places will start having their Halloween gigs. I'll probably go out for a second time on the Wednesday after (which is actually the 31st).

The hardest part is the damn padding. I've never sewn something like this before. I've cut the basic pattern going around the neckline of the jacket, however this is proving more difficult than I anticipated. If it looks completely like crap when I'm done, I might leave it off for the time being.

Then it's just some last minute details like the nametape. I don't think I'll have the bomb done in time (which is ashame as it helps identify the costume... and just looks cool 8) ).

No pics until I have most of this done.

The bomb...
Have you given thought to a garden/ weed pressure sprayer?

Just a generic shot of a sprayer.

Yeah that looks good!

I've got an air-bed hand pump in my garage that would fit the bill in a pinch. It's a little on the small side, but is still a cylinder with a handle. I'll have a look around today for something like the garden sprayer. Just have to scratch build the pouch that goes on the shoulder (like I have time for this!?  ).

Well last night after working on the leg guards I came to the conclusion that it would save me a lot of time and hassle to just grab a set of sport shin guards. I'm not one who gives up easily, however the vinyl is just too thin on it's own. The leg guards look much thicker- and the center section looks like it could be plastic.

What I might do is get a set of shin guards, and place the vinyl I cut underneath them- that way they might still have that "wrap around" look. If I have the time, I'll make the straps that go over them as well (the T1 leg guards have five).

Most of the pressure sprayers I've seen are too big. One thing I've seen that might work better are those large plastic containers that you put powdered drink mixes in and then agitate that mix with a handle that collapses down into the lid.

Wish I had a picture, it's kinda hard to describe. But that's a worry for another time, sounds like you've got something in mind that will work just as good.

Thanks Bob. :)

The air-bed pump os ok... but just ok.

Image

It's about 11 inches long. Like I said- it will do in a pinch.

Today is my last day off work before Saturday night (yes I have to work Saturdays--- sucks  ), so I pretty much have to get most everything done today. Just have to sew the padding and nametape onto my jacket, and make a pouch for the bomb.

I broke down and spraypainted my USCM leg guards black for this. I'll either repaint them camo for next year's D-Con... or buy a new set for my armour altogether.

Ready for battle this weekend!

"Aerial HK traversing your sector in seach mode."

Battle weary.

The greaves are my USCM ones painted black. The extra bits above the knees are actually large pieces of black vinyl that go down my shins, and wrap around my calves as one piece.

Image

...Dog's barking.

Image

KHAAAANNN---

Oops! I mean...

TERMINATOOOORRR!!!

8)

Image

Kinda hard to show- but here's a closeup of the nametape. The BU is the first two letters of my last name. I swear I saw an RE on Reese's nametape which is the reason I did this. The DN-39476 is supposed to be Reese's unit, different number (if that is how it works  ). The letters/numbers are some Letraset rub-on type that I had lying around. :D

The bomb shoulder holster won't be done in time, so for this weekend I will simply have it hanging from my web-belt.

Can't wait to hit the streets with this one! :D
