I know plasma doesn't require surgery, but they also pump the red blood cells back into you. I can't imagine that's a pleasant sensation.

On 'How it's Made' (best show ever commissioned, thank you Canada!), they added a chemical/enzyme to part the plasma from the other stuff.
It was an old episode mind you so the method has probably changed since.

Any ideas to why they pump the red blood cells back in you? Seems like a pointless excerise. Unless the sheer amount of blood needed to get the right amount of plasma is so great they need to replace some.

No it's Bone Marrow Donation which is painful and requires surgery!

You'll get them...the whole NHS blood service is switching over to them. Personally, I prefer the good, old tables.
