The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Good to hear she's doing well.

That x-ray would look awsome on a big canvas, it's kinda Giger-esque :)

Hey guys, figured I'd update this thread rather than make a new post.
Been having people ask where I've been and what's going on and I've been having to repeat this a few times.

Aside from being the absolute busiest time of year for props and costumes, on which I think we all can agree.
We have been on a waiting list for a support dog for our daughter for two years. This month we were informed at the last minute that we have a placement and we're to begin training. The training and handler certification lasts 45 days with the first two weeks a full time classroom and practical training course. All day five days a week.
So I've been trying to squeeze in work when I can in the evenings. Needless to say I'm exhausted.

The dog couldn't have come at a better time as our little girl is scheduled for another surgery in a few weeks and yet another in December.

I really appreciate all the support and everyone's patience during this time!
I look forward to a life less hectic soon, the sooner the better!

Matt

Matt,

It kills me to hear what your daugther is going through, and how it has affected your family.

However it is good to hear about the support dog, and from what I gather that your daughter is going to be doing better.

Once again I wish you and your family all the best, and that there will one day be easier times ahead.

Thanks, things are going good. Dog is great and proving to be an asset already. Just preparing for the other shoe to drop in a couple weeks for another surgery.

This week is going to be spent on trying to catch up as best I can.

We're sitting in the hospital waiting for another surgery.

Dog makes a world of difference... Kid is pretty relaxed and stoic... I'm a nervous wreck though.

Hey all just updating whats going on. Im not on this forum much any more but I didnt want to leave anyone hanging.

The kid underwent her third and final surgery last week, the plates implanted have done their jobs and have been removed! Shes got a lot of PT to look forward to but everything looks great and shes getting around with her walker just fine. (If you ask me she doesnt need it but I think shes afraid to give it up).

In a positively Dickensian twist. Last night I was on my way to the drug store to get her meds and some fresh bandages, when my truck broke down. Didnt get a tow truck til well after midnight and never did get to the store. I was feeling incredibly defeated and depressed as I waited in the cold trying to figure out what to do... but I shook it off and went on about finding a solution eventually.

Anyway thanks for all the well wishes and good vibes!

I wanted to update everyone on what's going on.
We had to hospitalize our daughter again. Some of you may know what's going on some of you may not. I'm not terribly comfortable sharing stuff like this but situations like this effect my (our) lives wholly and completely and I just wanted to let folks know I'm still around but I have to devote much of my time caring for my family. She's in intensive outpatient therapy now, so there's a lot of back and forth driving and sitting around waiting. My wife and I have been splitting those duties as best we can.

If anyone has any questions or concerns about projects we are working together on or just want to check in privately you may do so at matsucorp(@)aol.com .

Shared this on the BookFace and elsewhere but figured I'd share here as well.

Friday things were just fine... As of yesterday noon.... We are looking for another place to live.

This weekend our landlord asked to meet with us and talk about our lease. It's up for renewal in August and we were prepared to sign on for another two years. Instead we were informed that they were going to go ahead and let us out of the lease early and that we need to be gone by July.

This was completely out of the blue and couldn't have been more unexpected if it were delivered by Elvis riding a unicorn.

We loved living here, had worked very hard to make it home and were going to work towards making an offer on the house once we had built enough savings. But due to being stretched thin due to medical bills, we have virtually no savings. A fact that is going to severely hamper any kind of moving expense.

Now, before people start grabbing pitchforks and lighting torches, we were offered a very generous severance for our trouble, so I'm thankful for that indeed... However, at this point this does little to change the fact that we are now thrown into emergency mode and have to search for a new home, and facilitate the pack up and move on extremely short notice... All with very little savings set aside.
To be honest I'm crestfallen, I had really hoped to stay here at least a few more years. Things were leveling off for us and I was looking forward to being able to concentrate on bringing more projects on line. Now, this... :(

Anyone In STL who knows of anything within the 270 loop and has some rental leads in the $1k range let me know.

I think this sitrep topic has run its course and Aside from replies, I won't be posting any new BS (it's just not productive).

If anyone needs to contact me please use email, I don't have a great track record with PM's and I apologize for that.

Off to find a house with a nice basement, a garage and perhaps a Cold War era network of tunnels and fallout shelters.... Not too much to ask for really.

M
