Great planet. What is the etymology behind 'Pettyvindybast'?

I've worked in the highways/roads section of my local council (municipal services in the US?) all my working life, shuffled into various jobs as departments changed.

In the 1990s I was a Response Inspector, sorting out various problems, such as broken paving, potholes, abandoned vehickes, etc.

On certain main roads we have grass verges between the road and sidewalks, often with trees too. These roads have signs on the street lights/other poles saying "Don't park on the grass" in a more legal turn of phrase.

Some assholes still park on the verges, so one part of my job was to stick notices on their windshield, advising them of their offence, take a pic of the vehicle and log the vehicle reg.

No charges would be brought for a first offence, but if caught again, they would face a large fine.

One day while driving along I spotted a van completely on the verge (not just one or two wheels), so I parked my car in a safe place up the road and started to walk back to the van.

Before I could get the notice ready to stick it, the driver came out of a nearby clinic and got in the van. He spotted me holding the notice and my Polaroid camera and asked me what I was doing.

I pointed to the sign on a nearby pole and explained that he was committing an offence.

As he started the engine he shouted at me "Know what you are?!"
"No sir" says I in a calm voice.
"A Petty Vindictive Bastard!"

When I got back to the office I told the story and my colleagues (and my boss) replied "Well, you are."

So the nickname has stuck.

You might want to ask instore about them as they often get them in a week or so before they put them out on the shelves.
I got my Hot Toys Drake and Hudson a week before they were on the site just by chatting with the staff
