The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Yellowjacket, welcome to the Corps! Just checked out your link- FAAANNNNTASTIC! Love all the paper props you've made. In fact, you've inspired me to create a Firefly display in my Living Room (of Props)- I'd just had a few pieces, nothing like Steve's, but this is just toooooo awesome to not do!

Thanks again for joining us! (I've joined your group as well)

Great planet. What is the etymology behind 'Pettyvindybast'?

I've worked in the highways/roads section of my local council (municipal services in the US?) all my working life, shuffled into various jobs as departments changed.

In the 1990s I was a Response Inspector, sorting out various problems, such as broken paving, potholes, abandoned vehickes, etc.

On certain main roads we have grass verges between the road and sidewalks, often with trees too. These roads have signs on the street lights/other poles saying "Don't park on the grass" in a more legal turn of phrase.

Some assholes still park on the verges, so one part of my job was to stick notices on their windshield, advising them of their offence, take a pic of the vehicle and log the vehicle reg.

No charges would be brought for a first offence, but if caught again, they would face a large fine.

One day while driving along I spotted a van completely on the verge (not just one or two wheels), so I parked my car in a safe place up the road and started to walk back to the van.

Before I could get the notice ready to stick it, the driver came out of a nearby clinic and got in the van. He spotted me holding the notice and my Polaroid camera and asked me what I was doing.

I pointed to the sign on a nearby pole and explained that he was committing an offence.

As he started the engine he shouted at me "Know what you are?!"
"No sir" says I in a calm voice.
"A Petty Vindictive Bastard!"

When I got back to the office I told the story and my colleagues (and my boss) replied "Well, you are." :D

So the nickname has stuck. 8)

Only a small thing, but kinda related...

I play a lot of Freelancer on my PC, with a whole bunch of Mods available.
One of those allows you to buy and fly Serenity! :D
It costs a LOT of credits, though...

Any other games with such a feature?
How does it fly?

£79.99 + £5.50 (P&P) = £85.49

You might want to ask instore about them as they often get them in a week or so before they put them out on the shelves.
I got my Hot Toys Drake and Hudson a week before they were on the site just by chatting with the staff :D

A new Mal Reynolds pistol is on the way in 2012!

Only $79.95 (+ shipping) too!

https://store.qmxonline.com/Malcolm-Rey ... p_160.html

Quote:
Measuring 14 inches from the tip of the barrel to the back on the hand-painted simulated wood grips, our Mal pistol weighs in at just over a pound, giving it a solid heft.

The body is cast in polystone and composed of several parts, each of which is metal-plated using the same process as our critically acclaimed Phaser replica. The pistol is then painted and weathered to match the antique brass color of the original hero prop, prior to final assembly.
