The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

You know, I still want to do this outfit too Kev. Perhaps we can plan on it for next year's DCon? This year is fullllll up with outfits!!

I'm still looking for the moving blanket...I think I'll be building the greaves to use w/ my Warriors of the Wasteland outfit. That way I'll have another part done!

Hey thanks guys! :)

Like I said- I'll get around to finishing it eventually.

Rex- next year's D-Con sounds like a plan, but the rifle I have pictured will have to stay at home. I'll probably bring my 40W phased plasma Longshot.

You know what bugs me about this costume? Uh, not Kevin's costume it rocks, but the Resistance costume in general?

One would assume that after Judgement Day hits you wear what the world military was wearing. So where did the stuff come from? They find a cache of SciFi costuming stuff and put it on? Because if it's a matter of sewing and survival, I'd rather survive than sew a uniform. Y'know?

Kind of a reason why I liked the Sarah Connor Chronicles, they reduced the uniforms to simple BDU's (although some did have the leg armor).

Sorry. We now return this thread to your regularly scheduled On Topic comments.

Well... perhaps when the script was written in the early 80s they figured it was what the military would be wearing in 13, 14 years?

But I totally see your point- they are scavengers and wouldn't have the time/resources to make distinctive custom uniforms.

Honestly what would have worked is if each uniform was different from one another. That way it would truly look like they were guerilla fighters- not so organized.

And yet on the other hand...

Reese's flashback sequences were late in the war (probably shortly before he makes the time jump). They may have been organized enough to have a standard uniform by then.

oh, so u don't mention that i harassed you in how many e-mails to get back onto the Terminator suit?

about the uniform issue, this is how i see the Terminator series

T1 the FW was just after they broke skynets "back" so to speak, Reece mentions they smashed the defense grid, so the uniforms were imo more rag tag and imo very authentic

in T2 we actually see the final stike on Skynet, there was supposed to be a bigger battle with more infiltrators, HK units and even supposed to show them entering the time displacment facuailty (as per documentries about the movie)

this was my Fav of the FW suits, it just seemed to stand out to me action wise that it was a full assualt between the two army's but also seemed odd that they were so uniformed, i did frame by frame pics of the battle sequence and actually found 2 suit varations one being the one i did whichw as the commen one, the other being a short sleeve with long sleeded undershirt with a Tolkra looking vest (from SG1)

T3... this was the final blow on the machines and the last of the war with us winning......imo the worst of all the FW scenes/Suits, the suits looked so bad that i can't even see how someone would find it in a burnt out store and stitch it togeather (based on props for sale)....and i kinda liked T3 but i hated that FW part

I gave up on the moving blanket idea- I'm going to re-sew the correct zig-zag pattern on the existing padding I bought.

You said it... I didn't.

I do like your take on the series Brian- and I totally agree about the FW sequences in T3. Easily the worst.

You know... I really should thank Wayne for bumping this (and DSB for the nudge). I am starting to gain interest in this project again. Everything is just sitting in my closet waiting to be finished. 8)

Looks really good! What did you use for the padded part? Moving blanket or create your own?

Guys, I've been having a helluva time finding a grey hat. All the ones I can find in the correct shape are all too dark a grey, of if the correct grey, have pinstriping, embroidery, etc. on them.

Finally snagged a non-canon, perfect color of grey, plain baseball cap to use. (at least for now)

the padding for MY suit was just a drak brown fabric that i put some padding sheets between and stitched togeather and used a vyniel edging (beleave me, that was almost the hardest part of the suit)

as per the hat, mine was a off the shelf grey Army patrol cap, i can't remember if i did a Rite grey dye on it....the hat is the only fabric piece i have left from my 1st version suit (3 upgrades total)

Heh!

That was the link I was going to send you the same day you said you scored one! 8)

I would try to remove the red stitching (or go over it with a Sharpie)- otherwise it fits the bill! :D

Woooooo-Hooooo! That's cool Kev! Yeah, I saw that red stitching, and I was like: "WTF?" But, I think it should be fairly easy to remove...

Cool. This is so damn fun! 8)

Got my hat! I think it'll work out perfect. It's a bit darker than I wanted, but not too bad at all. The red stitching shouldn't be a problem to get out.

Ironically, I found one at Macy's on Sat. that was perfect. Correct shade and everything. But, it was $20- and I got this one for $9- shipped, so it'll work out fine.

Doesn't that always seem to happen with this hobby?

Glad you got the hat Bro. I've got some time off work in a week- I'll probably take a day to finally finish this costume. :)
