The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

This video footage was part of the ALIENS ride, apparently is was on pier 39 in San Francisco. (hearsay)

It appears that the APC was used in filming this.(obviously not in the shots that were taken from the movie) That would mean that the APC was still around in 1996! Unless these were small set pieces built just for this. It sure looks like the APC.

I intend to get to the bottom of this, does anyone know anything?

It's definitely a set piece. It looks like they built about half of one side; pretty much one wheel and the door. Also it's very likely those scenes were filmed in the US whereas the APC was built and subsequently scrapped) in the UK. The cost of shipping it to the US would have been astronomical.

Here's the door handle on the original full size APC:

This is the one from 'Ride at the Speed of Fright':

Close, but no cigar. :)

The stress of the drop must have triggered something to make him start to reanimate corpses...

LOL, nice Re-Animator reference there.

Must say, I was kind of surprised to see Jeffrey Combs in this.

SimonT better yet, Stuart Gordon directed the footage! If Barbara Crampton had been in it we'd have had a Re-Animator reunion!

I was lucky enough to catch this by chance when I visited 'The American Adventure' Theme Park In Derbyshire, UK in 1995. Went on it a few times... Crackin'!
