Hello Marines....
My name is Sgt. Ken "Trigger" Campbell and I'm briefly coming back to the unit after a long medical leave to ask everyone's help.
I consider myself very lucky and fortunate to be one of the "original" Almayer's Folly Marines, starting my tour with Spat Oktan helping me breathe life into my Colonial Marine alter ego back in 1999. I found him auctioning a set of his Sparmor on ebay and soon was the proud owner of (I'm pretty sure) his original prototype Spulse Rile (though it may have been one of two casts that he first did). You can check out my testimonials and more picks on the original site I believe, if they are still posted.
Over the years, work and other issues have always prevented me from showing up to the convention deployments and meeting many of you, but I've always been with the unit in spirit. But now, my weapon, uniform, boots and armor have been permanently retired.
In 2008 I was diagnosed with MS. I was able to keep it managed for a couple years, but over the last three years, I've declined to the point that I need a power chair and a special van to stay mobile and independent. After being in this country's medical system for about 4 years now it is safe for me to state.....that it is broken. FUBARD'd. A total Charlie Foxtrot. The one therapy with any real hope is Adult Stem Cell therapy. But any clinic that has opened and was seeing success in their patients have been shut down by the FDA, forcing patients to leave the country to get proper treatment. It works! But it ain't cheap.
I have created a fundraising campaign and am reaching out to all of my networks. It is my hope that the USCM could review my story. It is ok if you are unable to donate, but sharing the link with your own Facebook and Twitter contacts....my story can reach more people.
Here is my page:
http://www.gofundme.com/3ubkpoI have links to testimonials and news relating to the therapy so that everyone can get informed. Perhaps there might be some of you fellow marines out there that might have family or loved ones need this kind of therapy, whether it be MS, Arthritis, spinal injuries, etc. I honestly didn't really start making myself smart on it until just a couple of months ago.
Keep in mind that, this just doesn't support me. It provide more support and research that will forward Stem Cell Research in general. Maybe one day this therapy can be made available here at home so patients don't have to leave the country to get treatment.
Thanks for reading and supporting a brother in arms.
