The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I too am extremely sorry to hear this news, Kevin. I can only imagine the grief and anger you must feel with regard to the circumstances of your father's passing. He should have been supervised properly and there's really no excuse for what happened. I don't know what else to say except that he must surely be in a much better place now, beyond the pain and suffering. May he rest in peace. My sincerest condolences to you and your mom.

Kevin there is nothing I can say which will make this feel any better for you and little I can say that has not already been said. Your father passed almost exactly 2 years after my own father so I can tell you that things will get better gradually and I wish you luck in attempting to get justice for your Dad. We also experienced some disappointing lapses in his care although no glaringly obvious neglect as your father but Mum just wanted closure so we left it but I think if I were in your position I would be feeling exactly the same as you are now.

Please accept my condolences, keep your chin up and good luck my friend. :)

Kevin,

Words seem so fruitless at this hard time. I know it because I've been through it with my own father. He slowly deteriorated from a proud, stout and strong man to just a shell of skin and bone. In the last few days of his life, the morphine that dulled his pain prevented him from talking to us or even acknowledging our presence. It was a slow way to go out for a former Soldier.

What makes your loss all the more tragic is the events and mistakes leading up to it. I do hope you get the justice you deserve for that.
But, do take comfort in the fact that he is no longer suffering. No more pain, no more fear of waking up to another day of pain or nausea. Just peace.
The pain of your loss will ease with time as you grow accustomed to it and turn it into an inner strength. It will never go away. But that isn't a bad thing. It'll make you a stronger person.

I raise a toast to you, your Mother and your Father.

Thnak you for all the kind words and wishes (and pm's) my Friends.

I'm doing alright. My Mother is holding up exceptionally well. We will be scattering my Father's ashes
in the cemetary of his Mother next Sunday.

The gathering will be at a later unset date- it will have all the things he loved most- NASCAR, hockey, pics of his Harley (he had a '72 FLH), and (maybe) golfing.

One of his hobbies was racing stock cars at the local speedway back in the 50s and 60s. One story he liked to tell was of a particularly bad wreck he was involved in, in which his car had rolled and was sitting against the track wall. Two of his three seatbelts had snapped in the crash.

None of this scared him.

However he could smell gasoline and (I think) said he could spot it leaking out. The one and only time he ever was truly scared while racing was when he heard someone yell out "LET'S GET THE TORCHES AND CUT HIM OUT OF THERE!"

I have old super 8 footage (which has been transferred to vhs) of him racing at the CNE speedway in Toronto. At one point someone bumped him from behind causing him to fishtail violently. He recovered... and the next shot showed him trying to bulldoze that same guy off the track! Seemed more like watching a demoltion derby! Ironically, he was in thrid... until the first and second place cars collided on the last lap and knocked each other out. My Dad won that race!

Well... to get back to reality for a minute-

My Mother was contacted by the coroner who said that the cause of death was the concussion from the fall. We wil be obtaining a copy of the report. This will probably be a long process, but we will not give in.

Thank you again my Friends.

Kevin

My brother, I am sorry to read of this. I know the pain you are experiencing. To say it: "SUCKS!" is an understatement. I'm not going to say it gets easier with the passage of time, just that it will begin to hurt less.

You are a strong man Kevin, and your Mother needs you deeply now. Share his memories and share them often. Be strong, be very strong.

It's awful what he experienced, and I can't imagine that. Do what you have to do my friend to achieve some sense of closure. Then, and only then can the healing begin.

Take care bro.

I am sorry for your loss Kevin. And I'm sorry to hear that you now have to go after the hospital ...prolonging things.

May your father rest in peace.

I'm sorry to hear this Kevin. Please share my condolences with your mother. I wish you both the best in the difficult days ahead and I know all of us here agree, your father left your mother knowing she would be taken care of by his strong son.
