You should be able to get a very good measurement from Google Earth - assuming the area is in high enough resolution.

Find the distance between power line posts, count the posts, multiply them and that is your distance. Also use googlemaps, a real map or even a laser rangefinder. What are you killing and what kind of rifle?

we could take a pool on it, kind of like guess the weight but with distance.
Can you supply a photo without the clever inset? It might be slightly easier to gauge.

Thanks, fellas. I'll try google earth. The last time I checked, the images were extremely fuzzy. Ah!! Such an obvious solution it had eluded me. They should be fairly equal distant from each other but, given the total distance, it should be close enough.

Not actually hunting anything down here. Just thinking it would be a great testing ground for some reloads. Ah!! Bad idea!! Move along...move along...

size of target in yards times 1000 divided by the size of target in mils equals the range in yards. So, a hypothetical 6ft (2yd) tall target measures 4 mils.
2 x 1000 / 4 = 500yds
Let's "assume" an AR10 .308 with a 175gr boattail (BC =.495) mv=2635, the elevation moa will be 10.75 and the round will drift 2 inches per 1 mph of wind.
That is in a perfect environment. You look to be shooting uphill in a canyon like situation. You also need to factor in the elevation, temp and humidity. I used, 500ft, 59f and 78% . Good news is that the bullet will get there in less than a sec so lead time will be minimal.

I'm going to guess it's about 200 yards.

I'll have a guess but first; what size was the lens? 24mm?, 35mm? 50mm?

Focal length can have an effect on distance compression.

From that pic I'd say it's a good 700-800 meters.
