The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Good luck Martin.

That's the main reason why I didn't consider getting the G&P kit from MAA. :(

The sale, manufacture or importation of a 'RIF' is illegal.

Gifting of a RIF, however, is not.

Also, if you repainted an 'IF' M1A1 to look like a real M1A1 without having the legal privilege to do so you might get in trouble. If you ever told anyone that's what you did.

*ahem*

Thanks for the help lads... I do want to head off skirmishing... not a driver myself and it's a bit of a trek to the nearest. Want to try and get one without paying out any more money (and time) on airsofting just yet.

Sixty how do you mean 'gifting'???

Well if memory serves (it's been a long time since I had to use or look at any of the legislation) you can be given ('gifted') a RIF as long as no money or other compensation changes hands... As technically only the 'sale', 'manufacture' or importation' of RIFs is illegal without use of one of the various defences.

I could have that mixed up though; Scapey runs a site and should be able to give you a definitive answer if he's about.

I was in exactly the same boat, I don't drive and my nearest site is nigh on a hundred miles away, but I was skirmishing for years before this ridiculous law came into play.

It's worth it, even just to grab a couple of friends and nip off for three or four games to get registered, it's good fun.

maybe this is a solution:
you could order it from HK and tell them to paint the wood in a bright color
that way you can avoid the "illegal" repainting...cause you wont repaint it..just unscrew the wood :D

would this count, or does the whole gun has to be colored to not count as RIF?

Zero One Airsoft in Bournemouth not only have the cheapest Tokyo Marui M1A1 I've seen online... they also offer free two tone painting for non UKARA members.

What I'm worried about is how they go about spraying it... I don't want to receive it with bright green paint hazardly splashed across it including the metal parts.

May well have to skirmish then... just can't afford the time or money atm. :(

Wish someone would 'gift' me one!! lol

Thanks for your help boys... may have to head down to Combat South!! :D

51% of the external surface area has to be coloured for it to be an IF.

Also, putting a Pulse Rifle together is technically manufacturing a RIF... But hey, nobody here would do that without being legally entitled to, right?

Martin I can relate to this one, I am far too busy atm to get involved in skirmishing,. What bugs the hell out of me is that I used to own all kinds of airsoft stuff when I was a teenager... grrr

Anyway heres wishing somebody smiles on all the unarmed UKCM and gifts them a Thompson.
