Hello all.

I am going to make so prop M40 grenades and some airsoft firing Grenades.

The prop grenades will cycle with the Maruzen M870. They will load into the M870 with cap on and cycle out. They will have a brass pin, working plunger that will not came out. The red cap can be removed to press the plunger.

The firing grenades the red cap will be fixed and hole drill through the grenade so not working plunger. The grenade will used the two o-rings and plastic sleeve from the M870 shotgun shells.

Here are some photos of the cap. Please can anyone say that these caps are the right shape?

Also these caps or not a hard plastic but a hard rubber.

I got the caps from:

Interesting DATA.

Would it be possible to do a Tanaka grenade to (gas in nade)?

Any chance of cutting some grooves into the sides, so they resemble other M40s?

I'll have six anyway, just tell me how to pay. 8)

The caps look fine to me Steve.

I don't think the pics above are indicative of the finished grenades but more a test for fitting the caps and M870, correct me if I'm wrong Steve.

Knowing Steve though, I am sure the finished grenades will look exactly like the ones in the movie (just scaled to fit the M870).

Cheers

Yes Darren that is correct.

It the cap itself I am wanting response on.

The bit of alloy was a one minute turn up job to show you what the cap would look like on the grenade.

The Grenade will have all the detail on.

Matt "Interesting DATA.

I think so. I see why not as the gas parts would stay the same but it just the outer body.

Porp and firing I should make the grenades for the Maruzen M870 and the Tanaka M870.

Just the cap look right tho???

Honestly Steve, there's always an excuse with you isn't there. Why can't you just come out and say your too damn lazt to get them done any quicker ;) only joking mate

Which ones are you thinking of doing first.
The prop ones with working plunger or the airsoft version?

Do you think you'll have these done before the London show in July. If so, I would probably take some off your hands there mate. :)

Any idea on price yet also?

Cheers

Darren

I hope to have both types done by then.

I plan to do a small batch run of 100.

Maybe a 50/50 split or 75/25 with prop the larger.

Price for a Prop would be around the £5-8 mark.

Price for the arisoft would be around the £5 with no o-ring and tube that inside the Maruzen shell or £8 with the o-ring and tube complete.

But if you order more the price will drop.

I.E 1-7 £8 / 8-15 £7 / 16-25 £6 / 26-35 £5/ 36-50 Still £5 lol.

Drop £1 on each grenade in each group.

But this it just a rough price atm.

But they will not be more than £10. The £8 is more like it.

I'd be interested in a few to cycle through my M870 :) I'll keep an eye on this thread when you have pics of a finished one and some more accurate pricing. I'm thinking I'd go for 4-6 of them (prop versions)

I'd be interested in some of these for an MGC M31, if they fit and are able to hold a cap.
I'll keep an eye for more details.

thanks

OK for those that have not used a Mauzen M870 and used the Tanaka M870.

The Grenades that I am making or for the Mauzen M870.

I will make Grenades for the Tanaka at a later date.

I will have buy a pack of Tanaka shotguns shell and see how it works and I should be able to machine a outer M40 body so that people that got the Tanaka shotgun shell can just unscrew and fit into the M40 outer body's.

Also I would make a prop version also for the Tanaka but please give me time.

I spent the last two weekends making parts for the PR and this Monday and Tuesday nights working on them. 8am to 5pm working and than 5pm to 8pm.

I not making just one part but many so it takes time.

I got my CNC mill machining up the racking key spacers as I writing this as I got make 7 of them so far.

Plus I meed more 2mm steel, plus more racking arms from Hong Kong.

I'm glad someone is finally back to making the metal grenades!

Looks great!

Are these going to be something you're going to be making on a regular basis, or is this a one off run?

Hello Spat.

The plan is you order, I make.

The plan is do a batch of 100 to keep cost down and see what happens.

I hope this takes off well.

Bulk buying will help the US guy as the dollar is 1.913 atm.

Here a auto cad drawing of the grenade.

The top drawing is the scale 12 gauge and the bottom is the scale version for the Maruzen with the Maruzen shotgun shell on the right.

Here a materials used for the grenade.

Main body : 6082 T6 / HE 30 Alloy

Plunger : 6082 T6 / HE 30 Alloy

Spring : Spring steel

Firing pin : Brass with sliver (F**king expensive but got a few meters left over from a job my dad did 15 years ago and been siting doing nothing.

Cap : low density polyethylene

Blanking plug : 6082 T6 / HE 30 Alloy (this bit holds the spring in and also the plunger and also the brass pins sits into, this will be a push fit!!!)

So they should be a bit of weight to them.

Special note!!!!!!!!
For people that have made bits for me I will give a free grenade when ordering.

I notice people have been putting themselves down for specific quantities on this thread.

Should we do this if want some or will you be doing a separate interest/order thread in the Base PX forum Steve?

Cheers

Hello.

I was looking in the M41-A Manuel and the top of the grenade is taper and not radius and plue it a timer stick on it to show 10 seconds, 5 seconds, 3 seconds and Zero with three colour, green, yellow and red with black dots showing the time.

Also I can get the base of the grenades machined with the letter M-40 USCM or UKCM if wanted for a extre fee.

What do you lot think?

Letting on base?

Taper and not radius?

Sticker to show time?
