The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I got my ACM Thompson today and trying to loosen the grub screw to remove the barrel and it's rounded my allen (hex) key, two of them now.

I can't bloody budge the screw so what are my options? I'm guessing I can't drill it out as it's needed?

The word is ARSE!

I'd say drill it out, don't really need it - the two screws underneath are what hold the barrel on. Might find the metal to be very hard however.

I guess I'll take a dremmel to it first to make a makeshift flat screwdriver slot - doesn't matter if I damage the Thompson barrel anyway.

Ok there a few things that you can do.

Drill the core size of the grub size.

I.E if it a M6 you drill it 5mm. Than you can re-tap it at a later date.

Or you can drill it to the next size if you what a bigger grub screw.

They used a lock tight I bet.

A easy out can be used as they dig into the hole and force it out.

Had the same problem with mine. Looks like they are making these to be permanent. ...or trying to, anyway.

There is a much cleaner way of removing the barrel, though.
