I am at wits end here in trying to open up my Evike PR. Got all the screws out, as well as the brackets and plates but it just won't budge open - almost like I am missing a screw. Anybody have this problem? Is it just hella tight from the plastic pins? I am so afraid to crack the shroud that I figured I'd ask first. I did not mess any with the butt stock.

The shroud is held together with roll pins inside. You may have to pry the two halves apart. Be careful as it's really easy to mar the plastic.

Yikes that's exactly what I was afraid of. Really appreciate the info.

Anyone have any field notes on the best points of leverage to pry it? I saw the Evike instructions that show five pins are located across a line at the shoulder of the shroud.

Between the two shrouds at the top of the carrying handle is a separate piece that acts as the sight channel. I worked from inside there since it would be easiest to clean up if I marred the edge.

Ah that is a great point, thank you Sir.

Also, when you reassemble the gun, leave those pesky roll pins out, you don't need them!

Aha! I'm about to take apart my G&P / CYMA too so that's interesting to note! There's about 7 or 8 of them though, do you need to leave a couple in to hold it together still or does it clip & hold together fine with the screws?

I'm actually about to follow your steps in your posts Rob by installing a Majenko soundboard and speaker :D

In my opinion, my gun and others can chime in, still felt nice and solid without the pins. But, if you want to put them in, go for it.

And hey, thanks guys. I'm glad my thread is still having an impact and being referenced by people here!

I took the pins out of both of mine and they are just fine.
