Spotted this online today. Probably old news to those who still skirmish, but it seems pretty much ready to mount in a Spas cage with only a few simple mods... http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/a-p-s-cam-87 ... MfElYrF9kI Attachment: The shot shells use what they call a sabot, which holds the BBS in place, and then falls away when the shell is fired. Each shell holds 12 BBs and the shotgun holds 3 shells, but I imagine it's 2+1 in the chamber, based on the length of the shotgun. Price is a bit high at appx. $375, but less than the previous shot shell powered Tanio Koba model which was $500+ |

I saw this version was up for pre-order when I bought my regular pistol grip APS CAM870. I wonder why the shorty version is more expensive? Must be more costly to make that folding slide or something. |

Figure this pic may be useful. No one likes to be the $370 guinea pig It is DAMN close to being 'ready to drop in'. You will have to cut out the retainer 'ring' from the actual barrel if you are using this type of block, so unfortunately some cutting/grinding will still be required. Attachment: Of course this is my interpretation of where the cuts needed to be on the longer version (not necessarily 100% perfect/ideal from an experienced expert) However it is the exact same company/receiver/gun and the dimensions on mine do fit my pulse build, so take it for what it is worth. |

Nice work, might take a go at it when I do a PR build. I read that some of the shell ejectors can load/eject the replica grenades - does anyone know if this can do the same? |

Just updating this topic. A fellow "Crazyhorse" over on the rpf mentioned that he was trying to use this shorty version of the 870 in a pulse build, but it was too short. He said the magazine tube is about 3/4" too short to reach the SD GL block. Further he said the forgrip assembly (which is block-ey with a swivel hinge cast in it) was problematic. He will need to do a lot of grinding and build an extension. Now if you arent using an SD GL block, maybe you can come up with another way to secure things without needing the heavy mods of an extension, but overall I would say this 'shorty' 870 is no better than a regular length 870 (which can be cut to any length). Considering it isn't cheaper either, I personally don't see any advantage to the 'shorty' version. |
