The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I recently did a complete disassembly of my Snow Wolf to do mods and a new paint job and now I'm trying to put it back together it seems that the BB sensor for the counter is not working :( I have clipped the sensor back onto the barrel and have the mag loaded and installed, but when I switch the counter on it reads at zero, and I can only fire a single shot, then the gun stops loading the BBs.

If I take the sensor off the barrel the gun fires normally.

I have no idea what then problem is, as I have no idea how the sensor works

Anybody out there have any ideas what might be wrong? I'm guessing that if the sensor is damaged I'm screwed, since there would be no way of getting a new one?

Sensor is 2 leds facing each other. (TX/RX)

Maybe they are misaligned.

Your counter should read 95 when inserting the mag.

Sometimes a little tape on the mag will help the switch.

I can send you a bunch of picts, to improve the overall PR accuracy if you like.

Thanks Matt, anything would help at this point!

Email is birdie17uk@yahoo.com

BTW, what is making the contact to the sensor when inserting the mag? The power for the sensor goes straight from the counter battery to the sensor, so I'm not seeing where a connection is made to the mag?

Here's my troubleshooting suggestion:

-Take the barrel off the thompson.

-Hold down the magazine switch to read 95 (snap switch on the side of the counter PCB assy.)

-Drop a bb down the barrel to see if it counts down.

That would be the first step.

It's working fine now, I was just being really dumb.

I couldn't figure out how the contact was made between the sensor and the mag. Then I turned the battery holder/counter over and realised it was on the back

Because I don't have the shrouds back together (I'm still working on mods to a real Spas Cage), the circuit wasn't being made. Thanks for the assist, next time I'll plug my brain in....

No worries.

While you are at it, could you tell me the barrel diameter in MM.

Thanks.

I'm getting tired of my thin/inaccurate SD studios barrel.

For what it is worth, the ID should be 11.5mm. (Diameter of a .45 acp round which the Thompson fired. OD is hard to say for sure but Id be surprised if it was as big as a snow wolf barrel.

A real M1A1 barrel is unevenly tapered. From about 16mm to 25mm.

If I remember correctly,

the end of the PR barrel should be 18-19 mm.

I'm looking to do a truly accurate metal set (stock/vent/barrel) in the coming year.

SDstudio pieces are too off, after seeing better reference material in the last few years.

Looks like this is cursed

The solder broke on the middle white wire while replacing the unit in the barrel triangle. Re-soldered it, but definitely dead this time. If anyone has a spare, please shoot me a PM.

Could be just a dry joint causing poor contact, try re-soldering it with fresh solder?
