The issue I have with the slim stock is that it doesn't look durable. Might as well leave the sliding stock on there. But that's just my opinion. If you're making it, do as you will. Of course you're not going to butt-stroke anyone with it either do durability is kind of a moot point... :) I suppose it could grow on me.

Overall, nice render Alex. Can you make me one with the "thick" stock as well? I'm digging the shroud scope too. Way cool.

The cool thing about the longer front end is that you either won't need to cut as much, or any, of the M870 front end off. In my book that's A-OK by me. One less thing for me to screw up. ;)

I think I dig the slim stock the most. The butt pad could have spacers to insert so that the individual user could adjust it to his liking.

I recon you could get one more round in the GL due to the extension.

And as far as durability, I know my business..:D
I'll do the vac form mods for the shell, but inside will be an armature of some sort rest assured.

Extremely neat, Alex - But if it's a sniper rifle, I'd be tempted to extend the barrel, add a bipod, and perhaps switch the grenade launcher out for a shotgun - For that "Oh crap! You snuck up on me!" moment...

I'd probably extend the barrel quite a bit - Possibly even beyond the vents, and add a muzzle brake.
Thinking about it, I'd also probably lose the grenade launcher - Makes the rifle more cumbersome, and the aiming harder.

The handgrip - Again, for a sniper rifle it'd be neat to have a fully-adjustable grip on there.

See this for something along the lines of what I'm thinking :)

Reworked the design here and there to cover most of what's been discussed here. Small refinments here and there too...

This is basically the same overall design as my previous post:

Same design as above except the stock is longer so that it's more consistent with the dimensions in the original sketch you guys did. It's a little too long for my preference:

Thicker stock per Russ' request. Longer stock version:

Thicker stock per Russ' request. Shorter stock version (which is actually pretty cool looking IMHO):

Essentially the same as the first variant, except with spacers between the butt pad and the stock per Matt's suggestion. This is probably my favorite variant so far as this is more conducive to being a Customized Sniper Pulse Rifle:

Let me know what you guys think!

* Edit: I think I'll make a mention of this thread on the Main forum to drum up a little more discussion and input. ;) Hardly anyone other than us sorry bastards ever look at the Airsoft Forum :|

Now that looks very.........beefy indeed.

What would the extra weight be like?

Very cool though, great work all.
A VERY nice 'pick em off' weapon ;)

Thanks for the comments Rev! Very valid points on all counts. :)

The original intent of these side profile concept designs are really to try and take the original design that was featured in the Japanese Hobby Magazine and make it a reality. Up until now (as far as I know), no one has really bothered trying to render a somewhat accurate illustration of the Sniper Pulse Rifle from that mag. JoeRanger did a sculpt very similar in style. My fingers are crossed that Matsuo will find the time in the near future to do a highly accurate sculpt of this rifle. The full stock alone is worth check seeing created.

As for the suggestions you made, I agree that a shotgun on this rifle is not very realistic (although it does look cool IMHO), and that it would benefit having a bipod on there. If I have time, I'll try and do a mock up of an idea I have. ;)

Heh.
I started messing around in Photoshop myself. Will post results if I have time to finish.

BTW, anyone know why when I look at this thread normally, the last post I see is the one with the ladies in... Only when I hit "Reply" do I see anything later?

You're looking at both page 1 and page 2 right?

The girls are on the bottom of page 1.

I think that this rifle really fits a dual platform function. It's not a 100% sniper class weapon, but it's not completely a standard "grunt" weapon either. I Figure it fits a "sharpshooter" role over that of a true dedicated "sniper."

I like the shorter "thick" stock of Version "D" but I also like the spacers of V-E.

I can SO see this being done as an airsoft conversion kit I'm drooling just thinking about it. :)

Alex, If you have time, could you put a short suppressor like muzzle on there, like Stephan did on his scratch built Marine Sniper rifle?

There's no link to Page 2 on the bottom of my Page 1...
Perhaps it's because usually when I come to this page, it's through the link in the Ready Line forum?
