Does anyone know if there is an airsoft M1 Garand rifle out there? I know Marushin makes the carbine M1, I'm looking for the regular (non-carbine?) version. Thanks:) Kevin The Sarge's Site Sarge's Pics "Marines I see as two breeds, Rottweilers or Dobermans, because Marines come in two varieties, big and mean, or skinny and mean. Nobody is producing a Garand as of yet. Airsoft Club is producing an M-14, and Tokyo Marui is supposedly producing an M-14 as well for release probably around Christmas 2004. www.airsoftclub.com/scripts/M14-B.html Here's a pre-release promo flyer picture of Marui's version. ![]() Since the M-14 is a derivative of the M1 Garand, It wouldn't suprise me if either a conversion kit was made for the Marui M-14 to turn it into the M1-A (box Magazine fed Garand), or perhaps Marui will release the variant on their own as they've done with every AK, MP5 and M-16 variant under the sun. Hudson of Japan makes/made non-airsoft M14/M1 displays that are expensive but look very accurate and real (around 900 bucks). If TM makes the gearbox for an M-14, you may be able to snag the GB and make your own M1 Garand. I've seen cut receivers (de-mill) for M1 garands. The walnut stocks for them are cheap and plentiful. All other hardware like trigger guards, sights, flash hiders, slings are all available and relatively cheap. That's if TM doesn't plan to make the M1 Garand as well, but I think they might eventually since the M14 and M1 are relatives of each other. As soon as these are available -- Airsoft with re-enacting should get a real boost. Now, if only someone would make a BAR. Thanks guys. I actually don't care if it's AS or a replica (Hudson), I just figured the airsoft version might be more cost effective. Quote: Quote:Now, if only someone would make a BAR. In SHOTGUN NEWS, there was one place that sells a resin copy which had a master of a real M1 Garand, which might be Canada proof. Heck, if you want one for re-enacting that doesn't have to fire, why you can just have the stock and all the smallish hardware mailed in. You just need to find a steel pipe for a barrel (real barrels are expensive $ over 100 bucks). Failing that -- you can always ask Matsuo and see if he can make a resin kit. Hey actually that's not a bad idea as WWII re-enactment is real popular. ![]() "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...For he today that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother." |

The problem with the model guns (stell, wood and all that) is the fact that they're almost as expensive as buying the real weapon in some cases. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the Marui version, when released, will be between $275-$400 or so. The Marui is supposedly using a new version of mech box. The airsoft club version is WAY more than that. BUt then they use real wood stocks and all that also. Rook Visit Rook's Castle, I dare you! What's a matter McFly? Chicken? |

Hey you know -- I'll go even further and predict that the new version of the GB will be a slender one. Why, look at the M-14 afa as the receiver and magazine, and you can see that it must be slender and long to fit in that part of the stock. The significance of this -- we will have another very slender GB available for other project guns, e.g. M56 Smartgun. PS -- Even if Marui ships M14s using their own plastic/ABS/polymer stock -- nd you want to adopt the real steel wooden stock to it -- I just don't see how that would be difficult. Wooden M14 stocks $30-60 depending on condition. If the fake wood on the M1A1 Thompson is anything to go by, then I think the TM M14 will be just fine. -Alex "The M41-A. When you absolutely, positively have to kill every mofo in the room. Accept no substitutes." |

I'm going to Knob Creek In a few weeks. Aisle after aisle of all manner of gun parts. I'll scope out what wood stocks for M-1 garands and M-14's cost. It's a lot cheaper buying from a vendor than mail ordering. Getting the actions for these guns molded up should be no problems, then you just drop them in to a real wood stock. I've had requests for M-14s but not garands. I'm currious if I can modify the '14 to immitate a garand, that would save me some time making extra molds. they are after all quite similar. We'll see in a few weeks. Oh yeah I'll of course keep an eye out for thompson and spas parts too.. ![]() Matt [img]http://www.drstranglove.com/upload/imgs/mtag1a.jpg] |

The problem that I can see with using real steel, er, wood... on a Garand/M-14 will be the need to route out the stock for battery placement. The real steel Thompson foregrip will work with the Marui, but the stock won't without a lot of work. Not saying it can't be done, just saying it would be a project. A standard size battery (8.4v) takes up a lot of space in the plastic stock. Rook Visit Rook's Castle, I dare you! What's a matter McFly? Chicken? |

Matt -- you can ask your firearms expert friends. I think the M1 and M14 receivers are just slightly different. Different sight, different flash hider. But very similar in size. "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...For he today that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother." |

They're _slightly_ different. Mostly in the sights, as you already stated. No, wait, I have proof! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Images courtesy of our friends at Jane's. ![]() Rook Visit Rook's Castle, I dare you! What's a matter McFly? Chicken? |

Forgot to mention that another slight difference between the M1 and the M-14 receivers is the addition of a select fire lever on the M-14. Rook Visit Rook's Castle, I dare you! What's a matter McFly? Chicken? |

I imagine going into the stock (after removing the butt plate) with a forstner bit shouldn't be too difficult. It all depends on how big the battery pack is. Obviously it would be best to only remove what wood needs to be removed so as not to weaken the stocks. <M> |

Post subject: | M14 This Year ? |
There's speculation that's been made by some on Arnie's that because there is a dealer in Japan already accepting pre-orders for Marui M-14 that it may be available in a matter of months rather than Spring 2005. We'll see what happens. It will be in Hong Kong soon after when it releases ... ![]() "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...For he today that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother." |

If you're attempting to use real wood stocks from the real firearm, you'll need to cut spaces into the stock to hold batteries to power the AEG. Rook Visit Rook's Castle, I dare you! What's a matter McFly? Chicken? |

Actually, you cut a channel up the back of the stock, inside where you can't see it with the shoulder/rifle butt cover in place. At least, that's the idea. Rook Visit Rook's Castle, I dare you! What's a matter McFly? Chicken? |
