Hello All:

Thought I would share my PR wall display I just finished. I concocted the idea from a venture inside my local hardware store. After cruising the isles of paradise for about an hour, a light bulb popped inside my fat head. What about a furnace filter? Now here is an item that can be easily modified by those of us who’s talents are better suited in other areas of expertise.

I decided to splurge and spend a whopping $18 bucks ( ) and buy the The Web Plus Permanent Electrostatic Filter -14"x25". This pup contains (1) rivet holding the plastic frame in place and pops off with a little drilling. After releasing the frame you have three internal parts, i.e., the main grill, screen and foam backing.

I decided to toss the foam backing, paint the main grill red and paint the screen black. After painting the pieces, I then used ¾â€

Thanks for the positive feedback guys...

I did some computer modifications to the display to get a better idea of how the rack would look using a pic.

I tossed the screen piece and figured all I needed to keep was the front grill using its "default" black color. This seems to give the displayed image more impact.

I think you guys will like it..

Personally, I like the second one better. You can see the bug more, and it almost looks like its trying to crawl behind the grip of the PR. :)

Neat idea!

Well done, Tiger!!!

It's alway great to see found hardware put to good use like this. There is also a type of light fixture/ceiling tile that is made up of grated squares. This can be found back in the millworks/finishing areas of most home improvement stores. I've been kicking around an idea to do something with that but, your idea looks fantastic. :D

Once again, nice job!!!

Will guys......... I had the local copy shop whip out the above two images at the specified size. The quality of the prints was remarkably good, but the images lost the bright red color seen on the two mock-ups posted.

Things to ponder/consider before trying this..

Size the actual "Viewable" image to display within the frames boarders. I used ½ inch solid black boarder around the image.

Some colors don’t always print like the color you see (No %$#@ :D ) displayed on your PC monitor. My actual printed images lost the brilliant colored red displayed in the mock-ups posted. For this prop idea to work using these images, the red color really needs to be bright.

Ideally, the printed image would look best if it has about ½ inch distance between it and the grill cover. The depth of the filters frame is only enough to “Just Fitâ€

I actually like the ICONS version of the Pulse Rifle display very much. I was very happy when i recently found and bought one in mint condition for $120

Tiger, how much is the print company charging you to print those up? I might be interested in one of the second ones, pending price of course. I'm geting tired of looking at the old peg board on the wall that holds my rifle. :P

Hi Rook.. They charged me $16 each pic. The prints are done on very heavy gloss paper, almost photo graphic quality.

Out of the two prints, the 1st is more easily recognizable through the grill. The 2nd image is almost impossible to make out what it is with the grill covering it. This is directly related to the much lighter color red on the actual prints.

Both images tho will grace my wall in a frame at a minimum. Now that I know a screen shot can be printed and look this good its time to become more creative.... :D

For a better idea of what a printed image will look like, use Photoshop ( If you've acquired it. If not, there are other programs that'll do it ) to convert the image to CMYK colour - Most pics you get from the web will be RGB by default and this is a "monitor" colour space. CMYK is set for ink, and will give you a true image on your screen of the printed piece.

Cool idea. I was at Menards today shopping for Smart Gun parts and I saw quite a few different items which looked remarkably similar to the floor sections of the Sulacco.

Heavy-duty plastic shelving and drain grates come to mind.

When you are into props, nothing looks like what it actually is.
