Just added what I think will be my last Airsoft gun to my collection, a Marui SIG-552. Thought I would post my collection since it kinda represents technology advancement, i.e., WWII, MODERN and FUTURE fire power.

Now I'll I need is something to shot at.. ;)

My wife's the same. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I can't risk importing any AEG's these days, so I can't spend a ton of cash on this hobby.

She once said that although she absolutely hates guns, she respects my right to have them (doesn't that sound American?)

Usually it's, "Oh good, another thing to collect dust in the closet!"

I said, "Just think honey, one day I might sell them.";)

Yeah... right!

Most of my collection was aquired around 1996 before the ban on airsoft- but I paid through the nose for them. For instance the Tokyo Marui pistols were an average of $150 each, and the springer rifles were anywhere from $200 to $400 bucks! The AEGs (the MP5A5 and MP5K) were between $600 and $700 each.

Guess I had money to burn back then. The store owners sure got their money's worth from me!

Here's a little closer pic for you:

What it is, is a TM springer XM-177E2 that I added a bunch of stuff to. The added bits are: a mag light with red cell under the flash suppressor, an added grip made to look like a mini grenade launcher (made out of wood), and a toy telescope jammed on top purely for show.

The whole point was to make the rifle look "mean"- I did some stage work a few years back and this was for a "Future Soldier" skit (like the human soldiers from T2).

Damn you Sarge... I just spent more money and bought some accessories for my SIG. Nothing like a Red Dot scope, Laser, 220 High Cap Mag and Tactical handle to beef things up. Damn this shit is expensive:D

Went shooting today with a friend and afterwords visited the local AS shop. Damn near slapped down another $200 bucks for the Mosquito Molds Mini Grenade Launcher. Spec's say it fires 165 BB's in one shot. Anyone ever see this type of accessory in use? 200 smacks is a lot of money for such a small piece, but it sure looked and felt kick ass. I can almost visualize it mounted below a SIG-552 :D

Yea Tiger I have one (if I can get it back from SI-FU (my AS expert)). They are really dun to shoot. In HK the GL goes for 50-70 and the BB Shower about $50-60. So you're paying for the seller's shipping plus his margin. :)

Hello MAA.. I must really be behind the times. Don't seem to know what dun means:( . Does this mean it ROCKS or SUCKS (LoL).

I would love to read a war story of this Grenade in action. Our dealer said it's really sweet if you suspect a group of enemy is holding up together inside a tight area. He explained that when the BB's launch, they fly in all different directions.

I got to tell ya, both me and my bud looked like drool dripping aliens when the salesmen was making his pitch. Oh the sweet, sweet feeling of touching cold metal and listing to the sound of a grenade being loaded.. :P

Oh, forgot to mention... Outta my three AS guns shot yesterday, the PR was by far the best shooter. The BB's just seemed to move faster and fly straighter, even against mu bud's RAS assault rifle. We adjusted all the guns Hop-Up features, but neither of us could explain why the PR was better. As far as I know, the motor is the Thompson stock EG1000.

The mini-launchers can actually fire a number of different grenades - from single-slug foam "ping-pong balls:) " to the aforementioned Moscart shower shells.

Sadly, UK Customs have been crushing anything with more than 3 barrels, since the way the muzzle energy is measured the TOTAL level for ALL barrels is the final figure - and 11 barrels firing even only 200fps = PROBLEMS!

They are unbelievably good fun though.

During a Capture The Flag game I hid BEHIND the flag, with an M203 containing a 165-shot Moscart attached to my MP5.
Called on my team to make it look good, but to allow one enemy player across the bridge to the flag. He picked it off it's pole, and...

WHAM!
165 BBs straight to the chest at about 3' range.

The look on his face was utterly priceless - these grenades are noisy!
Dae it :)

Outstanding Tiger!

Now you're almost ready to skirmish with your SIG552 SEAL. You need something along the lines of a stage I gear box upgrade: SYSTEMa M120 Springs, SYSTEMa helical gears for high speed, metal bushings, a 9.6V minimum battery of at least 2000mah, and you're ready to rock! (You'll get about 350-400 fps (depend on your barrel length) velocity from the above with flatter trajectory and longer effective range, plus enough juice to last you several hours of gaming)

Be sure to tell your opponents to -- ZZSAY HALLO TU MY LEELO HHFREND !!!!! before you blast them with the BB shower.

Hey Sarge...

I'm not sure if you have actually held the AS Thompson, but outta the AS guns I've played with thus far, I'd have to say that the M1A1 is the best built. Very solid. Even the motor inside the trigger grip is mounted very well.

After our AS trip, I decided to take a peek at the motor inside my SIG-552 and was somewhat displeased with the way the motor sits inside the grip and the fact that it had white (powdery) corrosion already forming around the motor. It would appear that not all AEG's are created equal...

The only grip I have with the Thompson is the weight of the battery pack. Once you load the battery inside the stock it makes the gun feel awkwardly off-balance when you raise it to your shoulder. I guess this is a minor issue tho since the gun in general is so damn solid and good looking...

My pickled 2-cents 8)

That carbonization (the white powdery residue) is common with AEG motors. Also, the "hot electrical" smell you get from a new gun is also common.

If you think the Thompson is unbalanced, imagine if that stock was solid wood and held a cleaning kit instead of just a battery. Quite a bit heavier I'd imagine. :)

The issue I have with the Thompson is the long reach due to the long length stock. I guess that's why I usually shoot from a high guard or low, "from the hip" position with a Thompson.

What's really funny is when you compare the "reach" length on a Thompson...

To the P90.

The P90 is almost too small, where the Thompson is almost too long. I'd still love to get another Thompson and make a M1A1k. :) When you take the Thompson apart to build a PR, you start having all sorts of odd ideas. Let's just say that a "K" version of the M1A1 would make Blade's M11 look weak by comparison. :)

Will MAA, I took your advise and dropped of my SIG-552 to our local dealer for their $125 standard upgrade. Since the SIG uses a small battery they suggested I avoid making an aggressive upgrade since the battery would not be able to manage it.

When I picked up the gun it was shooting at 363-365 fps according to their in-door speed trap, or what ever you call it. I took the gun home, loaded up two 220 Mags and started testing the gun. On two occasions the gun would not fire on Semi-auto mode after making rapid succession shots. It just seemed to go dead. As soon as I placed the gun on full-auto it would start firing again. This had me somewhat confused.

I took the gun back to the shop and they thought that maybe my electric motor was going bad, so they installed a new one at my request. During the installation of the new motor they blew the fuse on the gun. After replacing the blown fuse, the gun started working again until I got home..

Once I got home the gun did the same thing it did before replacing the motor. It would stop firing during Semi-Auto mode, but would fire in full-auto. After shooting about 150 BB's it blew out the new fuse.

The dealer is closed tomorrow, so it looks like I'll be dropping off my gun again on Monday..
