Pretty much any paintball mask will work fine. Stay away from the cheap walmart Brass Eagle masks unless you can try them on before you buy to test out the fit. Most of the masks made by JT are fine. I have a JT Spectra Thermalvision and it hasen't failed to stop a BB yet. Rook Visit Rook's Castle, I dare you! What's a matter McFly? Chicken? |

My personal preference is for Mesh masks - They will not steam up ( But obviously are ONLY good for airsoft as paintballs would burst right thru. ) The Sansei model with the squared goggles and peripheral vision sides is great! |

My problem isn't that my goggles fog, but my dang eyeglasses do. I still need to get contacts again. My mask is pretty well vented. I have 2 small notebook computer fans mounted on the top "vent" ridge of the mask which helps keep the heat issue down. They're powered by a single 9v battery which will last you about 2 days of playing with the fans always turned on. I can run for a while with the fans off, but when the heat starts to climb, they go back on. ![]() It'd be better in the long run I suppose to run a rechargeable battery with more MaH instead of the regular ones, but I haven't gotten around to it. The mesh goggles are "airsoft legal" around here, but they don't offer any kind of ear/jaw or side of head protection. Rook Visit Rook's Castle, I dare you! What's a matter McFly? Chicken? |

I wear a full-face Sansei mask that covers down to my chin, and slightly round my jawline, and a PASGT helmet that covers most of the rest ![]() |

Which Sansei mask to you use? This one... ![]() or this one... ![]() My JT mask looks like this... ![]() Looking at those Sansei maks now, I wonder how hard it would be to swap out my thermal lens for a custom cut metal mesh lens. It would have to be a heavier weight metal mesh than your standard screen door mesh. It might be something to think about though... Rook Visit Rook's Castle, I dare you! What's a matter McFly? Personally, I've used this type for years: ![]() It's worked great for me. For throat protection we typically use camo netting as scarves. As for ear protection, most of us go without, but I've been hit enough times on the ear over the years that I finally got a pair of the very hard to find Sansei ear protectors. For all round good protection, I'd recommend the JT mask Rook suggested. Quote: Quote:I wonder how hard it would be to swap out my thermal lens for a custom cut metal mesh lens. It would have to be a heavier weight metal mesh than your standard screen door mesh. It might be something to think about though... That actually sounds like a really good idea! Probably requires a lot of testing to be absolutely sure it's safe. The thing I don't like about metal mesh lens, is that it darkens what you see, so under low light conditions it's harder to see than through a regular lens. Also, looking through a metal mesh is like looking at a medium to low res image because of the grid pattern. On the plus side, you never ever have to worry about lens fogging. -Alex "The M41-A.
