The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Edited because I'm stupid.

Anybody got a tip for getting the shrouds off? I've just tried using a flat head screwdriver to pry them apart and all I've managed to achieve is to chew up the back end. :(

Yeah I got mine from a seller on eBay some time ago. They're machined aluminium & really nice. I can't remember the seller's name unfortunately but I know that Spat makes some decent resin M40's if you eventually wanted to add one to your PR.

Hope that's a bit of help at least. :)

thanks for that. cant see to many differences between the g&p and matrix and as others have said the matrix looks to be a clone. i can see the hcg is the more screen accurate piece, with the higher price tag of course. are those yours? nice collection if they are :)

The matrix is missing an extra plastic piece guide inside the magwell. It makes reloading a little more difficult, nothing that you can't overcome with practice but it is there.

i used a big flat head screwdriver with some tape around it, started at the front by the barrel and slid the screwdriver between the barrel and the shroud and levered it apart that way, then work your way to the rear. its not an easy job to be honest, just take your time and try not to do anymore damage.

the rear area where the stock emerges has two pins close together , these were tricky to separate on my snow wolf . while I had mine apart I popped a couple washers on the top of the stock slider plastic insetrs nuts and bolts to reduce stock wobble

Yap its not easy I use 2 flat head screw drivers, one to hold one side open (near stock) while I slid the other other one along the handle from barrel end the bottom is easy.

Major Gunn, congrats on the PR purchase. For what it is, it's a great gun. Not as accurate as a full custom build or an HCG, but you can't beat the price. Just an FYI, and if your an airsofter you already know, the stock battery it comes with is crap. Mine wouldn't hold a charge after two days. I highly recommend getting at least a 9.6v stick battery. It will fit, but it's tight. Check my thread for mods on how to get more room for your battery. Oh, and post pics, we like pics!

Thanx Robi...I have a sound card I ordered a few years back for a different project, but never got to use it for that. I still have it somewhere, plus a nice assortment of Pulse Rifle sounds from the new game. So if I can find my sound board, I am planning on installing it in this pulse rifle so when I use it, it sounds cool as well as looks cool.

Finally was "issued" my new Matrix PR today! Just from a stand point of being a pulse rifle...SEMPER FI!!! So yes, it is awesome!

My intended use extends into actual combat though, so I will also give it the paces from an airsoft stand point. Most likely though, the only issue I expect to have is reloading, which in combat, is something that needs to be fast. Might leave certain "pinch plates" on the APC during ops. I also expect the power source (battery) should also be replaced at the end of the day. Otherwise, Go Pasetic!!! ( I hope to Sweet Baby Jesus I spelled that corrrectly marines!!!

Looking good. Glad you got one. Do you remember who made the soundboard you have? Did you find it?

I want to say it was vector core perhaps. I ordered it years ago actually. In all honesty, i still have not found it actually. I set it aside once I figured out I could not use it for the original project, then later moved so not sure where i packed it up yet. The good news, I have the sounds all clean and so forth, just nothing to install them in.

I grabbed one of these slings. It seems pretty good to me anyway. Unless you "want" to spend 50 bucks on one or something.

OK, so this coming Saturday will be my first trip into "combat" with my Matrix at our local arisoft field. I will report back my findings on the AEG side of it from the event.

OK, here is my report on my Matrix. It was inconclusive on the first try. The battery that comes with the matrix might as well be thrown away the second you pull it out of the box. It is total crap. However, I did test the PR with my M4 battery because I wanted to be sure that the PR itself was ok, and I am pleased to report that using a "real battery" the Matrix shot much faster, and actually like a good AEG should. I have a battery that will fit my Matrix on the way in from airsoft Atlanta now, so next week, I will take her back out and try again. Bottom line so far though, just toss the battery that comes with it (the battery on a full charge did NOT make it through a single game). She did turn a lot of heads though. On an airsoft field, and all of you already know this, but the majority of aegs you will see are M4’s, followed by AKs and finally, everything else. So a Pulse Rifle on the field is a truly unique thing, and lots of folks where asking about it.

Congrats on your first outing with your PR. Yeah, like I said, the stock battery is crap. Toss it and buy a 9.6v stick, make the mod I did in my thread (to prevent pinching) and enjoy the new found power!

Major Gunn, How about some action shots from the field? We like pictures!

I have been looking at the Matrix PR but insufficient funds strikes again, that and being new to airsoft. I have played a total of five games with some friends who are kind enough to lend me a rifle. I have to say I want a PR as my first gun. Also has anyone modded the GL to actually fire?
