The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

well,
i bought myself a snow wolf airsoft pulse rifle a few months back when they came avalible. and i couldn't help but notice a few minor flaws with the ergonomics with the gun ( i think that's the correct big word). so....
with the help of a dremmel and some fore thought ( always essential when modding something that good looking) here's a few mods to the externals of my own pulse rifle "black bess"

cut a 1 inch slot behind the mag well

the above mad was done for two reasons.
1: if you're using the 150 round mag that comes with the gun, by pressing your thumb against the mag and pulling down, this makes removing an empty mag a hell of a lot easier than before.
2: if you complete the cut all the way to the top ( just behind the trigget guard in this picture) you can now see where the mag fits into the mag well as clear as day ( this will make reloading a fresh mag as easy as eating pancakes....but not as yummy)

2nd external mod,
the bottom of the fake magazine of the pulse rifle does a wonderfull job of keeping the 150 round mag in place. the only problem i had was that changing magazines meant that you had to remove the false bottom, place it somewhere safe (?) take out the spent mag, insert a fresh mag,and hope to hell you didn't loose your fake mag bottom ( or some twat moved it "just for a laugh"). this second mod is quite simple :

cut a square hole in the bottom of the fake magazine :D

now, when you need to reload, the fake mag bottom can be kept on, and dosn't need to be removed at all, also ,if you're a fan of high caps ( high capacity magazines) you can now use them freely( they will still stick out of the bottom of the fake mag part, but hey...never said i was perfect)

square hole cut in the fake mag bottom

3rd mod.
install abattery sling. the stick battery that comes with the pulse rifle does an alright job all things considered. but i did notice that changing batteries mid game can be frustrating at best ( pull and twist the end of the grenade launcher, disconnect the spent battery, pull out the spent battery, ect, ect) not to mention, some of the vets i spoke to said that stick batteries can break down more often than pack batteries. so with this in mind, i installed a battery sling, it adds a sling to your pulse rifle, and makes battery swaps more easier and a hell of a lot quicker too

WARNING!!!

installing one WILL mean you will have to take your beloved gun apart, so exercise EXTREME CUATION when doing so ( and for gods sake keep that handy booklet nearby, and get any small children and cats out of the room!)

to install a battery sling ( store bought,or home made, your choice really) you need to remove one half of the fairing ( it's the blue part on my unpainted gun in case you're thinking " what the hells he talking about") and place to one side. take the grenade launcher apart to acess the wireing to the battery connecter. you'll need to cut one of the vents on the top half of the grenade launcher and fit the slings battery through. then connect the sling tamiya lead to the guns tamiya lead.

the next bit takes some time and skill, you'll need to fit the cable and both connected tamiya leads back inside the greanade launcher, and re-attatch the second half of the grenade launcher ( carefully!)

next, re-attatch the fairing, and make sure everything it screwed in properly. the sling can be attatched to the grill (?) just under the barrel, and at the end of the stock by using two key ring loops ( i kid you not).

and voila!!

your beloved pulse rifle now has a sling and will take normal pack batteries as standard.

please note: a pulse rifle is a much beloved thing,a worrking airsoft version just as much so, if you dont fancy doing ANY of these mods and you're happy with the way things are on your gun.....DONT DO IT! i take no responsibility for anyone who attempts such mods and botches things up, if in doubt PLEASE go and see your local site tech guy/gal.

look after your pulse rifle, and when the sh*t starts flying, she'll look after you

end result.

a pulse rifle that now accepts mid and high cap mags, reloads much easier, has a sling for carrying it,and will take regular battery packs ( 8.4 volt,1500 mah). add a custom paint job ( why the hell not eh?) and you'll be the envy of your local club :D

Who did your paintjob? That looks fantastic. I'm thinking of buying a 2-tone and getting someone to paint her up for me.

Nice mod. :)

FYI, what you call a fairing, we call a shroud and the grill we call the vent triangle. 8)

Hi Boonie,

Some nice practical mods for airsoft gaming there. I like the black finish too. It's reminiscent of the WY rifles that appear at the end of Alien 3. :D

All the best.

John. :)
