How powerful of a battery can I put in my stock thompson with out wrecking it?

It takes the large battery type.

"Personally" I wouldn't run any larger than an 8.4volt battery. Put something like a 2500-4000 mAh
battery in there and you'll be able to shoot all day long.

Higher voltage will give you higher rate of fire. Higher ROF on stock factory gears is just asking for failure.

In my personal experience. :)
