The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Post subject: OK, I have the Thompson... Shottie?

I'm beginning my quest for a decent Pulse Rifle as of last week.
I have the Marui Thompson - Now, I plan to put the battery for that on a satellite sling, which gives me plenty of room up front for a shotgun.
I want that lovely, dangerous-sounding "Ka-CHUNK!" noise when the launcher is pumped - What am I looking for to go into the Spas cage ( I'll cross THAT bridge when I come to it, unless anyone has one for sale? Emailed Matsuo to see how much / when a parts kit might be available, as I need a shroud too... And I don't really wanna pay £400 for the G&P kit only to bin half of it! )

Hey Rev

I have the Maruzen M870 Gas version inside my SPAS cage. It gives a very satisfactory sound and action when it's racked but like most things that can be used for Aliens items they seem to be very hard to come by now.
If your not worried about the GL working then maybe you can go for one of the Spring M870's. The sound they make is OKay but not great but they are readily available and pretty cheap. Otherwise maybe get some custom work done to simulate the racking action of the Maruzen but without any of the parts required for it to actually work as an airsoft.

Hmm... Yours was the PR I was thinking of as a template for mine ;)
So the shottie in yours isn't actually functional?

I don't know of anyone outside of Monsters in Motion that was ever able to situate the gas tank for the M870 in the gun, and retain functionality.

Mostly, using the gas M870 is just for the "gee whiz" factor.

If you're looking for functionality, it looks like the CA870 by Maruzen may work, but I haven't attempted it yet myself.

Of course if you go that route you won't be able to rack shells through it either.

Hey Rev

The shottie is functional but the gas tank has to be mounted externally. I have a small inlet valve at the bottom of the mag well for the gas. I'd have liked to have kept the main battery and the gas internal but it just wasn't possible.

@ Rook Do you know how they managed to keep the gas tank in the gun at all? Does anyone have one that could show us some pics? I hadn't realised that the MIM PR had a functional GL.

I suddenly have most of the accurate parts for a PR. Thanks to Matt and my brothers broken M1A1. (BTW, the quality the Matsuo stock and vent is outstanding)

What are the options for just a SPAS cage? Idealy, I would like to fill the cage with speakers. I have the hyperdyne sound and light kit, but it needs more volume for a con.

What are you doing with a gun in space?

In their shroud, there was a recessed area at the top front slope of the shroud.

Unfortuneately, if you're using Tommin's awesome barrel/spas cage mounting platform that makes it unable to house the gas tank in the shroud in that position.

MIM also drilled a small hole in the front of the shroud to allow access to the shotguns gas tank, without opening the shroud. What's funny is the fact that for all their effort to make the shroud skirmish worthy (and it really is...), they still did not house the battery inside the body of the shroud. They just removed the long wiring harness from the Thompson stock and left the short connector hanging out the bottom of the AEG. :)
