The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So… one piece of kit missing on the USCM webbing is a water bottle / canteen- has anyone got any ideas about what would look ‘right’?

My own thoughts and this would fit with the colour of the pouches and the general Vietnam feel would be the 44 pattern water bottle pouch and an aluminium water bottle…

Either that or a custom rectangular pouch fastened with Velcro and a suitable rectangular bottle inside?

Thoughts welcome…

If I were to do this, my thought would lean toward something a bit less "clunky" than the 44 pattern, and instead something functional, but with a suggestion of "futuristic" flare.
(Also in line with your rectangle idea)

Just a quick scan for "modern military water bottle" came up with these that I believe wold fit in those parameters.

Inexpensive, stainless steel, with custom logo:

-From an 'on-screen' perspective, I always just figured the water was among the items in the 'big pouch'.

-From a practicality perspective, I grabbed a couple of these to be my "beer carriers" for use in a couple different costumes. (pretty versatile)
Made by condor and under $15 each

-From a practical but very similar theme to screen accurate gear, I like these "Tactix" series bottle pouches. Don't own any tho.

In the game Aliens: Fireteam Elite, some of the skins have the old school canteen on them.

I always thought ALICE webbing /canteens were "in universe". This pic from the Tech Manual, clearly shows an ALICE E-tool, and what is maybe an ALICE Arctic canteen cover (that cross-over is not quite right ... I'm sure I've seen something like it, though).

P.s. just noticed that he's got his greaves swapped over. Just asking to be put on a charge. Shoddy! :D

I’ve always thought Yugoslavian canteens look pretty Cameron-esque

Those are used in Rogue One for the medical kits as well.

With no intent to besmirching your replica work Matt; whomever in the Props dept thought that quilted pouches [the holster] was a good idea, was having a "muppet moment" ... it's got to one of the least future-tech looking things ever.

Like it! I’ve ordered one! Only a tenner! The pouch is ‘in keeping’…!

I like the holster… wasn’t there quite a bit of quilted look in the ALIEN film? I believe the holsters were copied from a one produced commercially at the time…

Each to their own :) I think it looks like it's made from from Grandma's duvet cover (that said, I' do have two of em :D - one green, and one in black).

Yes, it was copied from a 'real world' holster, there's details on that somewhere on the forums. Interestingly, PropStore had a black one for sale, and if I remember correctly, I think the real/original ones was black ... ?

What other equipment is quilted?

I can’t think of any other quilted stuff in ALIENS… just quilted stuff in the 1979 ALIEN…

Having followed recommendations on the thread, I sprayed my pouch up with a USCM logo…

Would love to see your quilted WB pouch, Noble…
