Post subject:  Boot places in Australia

Hi,

Does anyone have recommendations for boot places in Australia especially Sydney?
Mitchells has something cheap but not accurate looking but most of it gets covered up:

Alternatively I could get something like this:

finally. i can contribute something to this forum!

the first link is a completely incorrect pair of boots.
the second link is the most correct of the two (though if i understand right having not looked at this stuff since i bought mine; you want a vibram sole with the spike protective metal plate in the sole and not the sole type in that ebay listing).

using these links and searching around the forum:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12722&hilit=panama+sole
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13924&hilit=panama+sole

among many others floating around here and you'll find the right pair of boots. i wish the auction i bought my boots came up, because i'd be able to give you exactly what i ended up with; with out having to rememberl later tonight to confirm on my boots tab.

more information on each style/pattern boot:

Thanks for your help.

I think I'll get this:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271908849794 ... EBIDX%3AIT
or
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281732500014 ... EBIDX%3AIT

The first one seems less "weathered". :-)

I just wear my work boots (Fireants) but they are no way accurate lol

I wore old black boots for Supanova. When I bought my costume, I received size 12 OD jungle boots with Panama soles - I am size 8.

I'm still wondering if I should spend more money on accurate boots. There's an estate sale (minimum bid of $1) on eBay in the USA and a sale from a surplus store of never used boots (buy now for $80 I think).

I still haven't bought boots that will fit me better. Does anyone else in Australia need 10N? Someone on eBay is selling them at decent prices individually and as lots. A lot would be cheaper in postage per person:

Be wary of the 'N', as it stands for Narrow fit, and if you can actually get your feet in em they will be really uncomfortable.
Unless you have narrow feet mind. ;-)

How narrow is narrow?

Well I can only go by my experience, unwearably narrow, for my average feet.

That's why there seemed to be a lot still available, in narrow, when I was looking, as they won't fit the said average feet.

American boots come in XN, N, R, W, XW. I am normally a 10w but I have used 10N boots, they are tighter but bearable once worn in, there is a way to help them fit better, soak them in boiling water for a few minutes totally immersed so they soak up the water then put them on and do them up tight, keep them on till dry, do that a few times and they will stretch, it is bit of a pain to do it, but 10N boots can be found very cheap compared to the other sizes , avoid 10XN unless you have very very narrow feet!
