The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

If after the parade you feel you need more time than that to rest and rehydrate, let us know. Marine or Xeno, physical well being comes first.

I hope the sweep time (and perhaps day) can be extremely flexible to allow maximum participation. ESPECIALLY for the Xenos. The sweep is dead without them. I would really like to get at least 2 like we had last year.

Hey Predatorette, do your best to get done with the DC shoot and make the sweep. You won't be disappointed. And we never have enough female marines!

Im 100% in to be a Xeno for the sweep. Since I rebuilt Amber and, to be fair, got a bit fitter, she's not as taxing as she used to be. Im free anytime after the parade.

Since I'm in the westin, any xenos are welcome to use my room for water or suiting up before the sweep.

Thanks, Mike. Boltie, if you can convince any more of your hissssy brethren to join you, it would be great, as y'all really are the stars of the show. If not, we understand, and we can plan the sweep out to be more you stalking us and picking us off one by one rather than a big fight at the end sort of thing if that's the case. We'll play it by ear.

Speaking of planning:
I've been asked about "dry run" walkthroughs. This is something we try to do ahead of time every year, and I fully plan to run one this year as well. Look for an invite to a facebook group, or chat, or some other group communication to pop up soon so that we can coordinate peoples' availability for a dry run and scouting/planning session. Xenos and any Marine that would like to be a "Squad Leader" are highly recommended to attend, since those people are the ones who really need to know the route, but anyone else that wants to come along is welcome to do so. The more people who have a working knowledge of the "plan," the better.

One final note on that topic. Keep in mind, the Westin is very much a "Host" hotel in all but name, these days. There are lots of events and panels that take place there. There WILL be traffic on the stairways, and there WILL be queues outside of some of the conference rooms. One of the points of the dry run session is to try to anticipate as many of these as possible, but the chances of running into unexpected obstacles are good. Plan to be flexible, and remember: it's better than the crowds in the Marriot or the Hyatt.

From Past Experience -

The Logistics -

The Xenos need plenty of time to recover from the Parade. It's a real ass kicker for them.

The DC photo shoot starts roughly at 3:30- with the possiblity of 100+ attending this, that could be difficult to get in costume, do the sweep, then change back to DC costumes -

Or -

Should the DC mega photoshoot end *exactly* at it's proposed end time, changing into and out of costume will take some time. The photoshoot may run smoothly and on time. But if there is the HUGE turnouts as in the past, time can move at a different pace. It's a huge task, running not just the big all DC characters photoshoot, but there's also the many
subgroup photoshoots going on there too.

The Dry Run of the Sweep is absolutely Critical - with the Westin getting more and more attendees, it's gotten harder to plan around who / what / how many may be in the way. The guys organizing this are trying their best to have the Sweep be a total Blast, but as Sean said, be prepared for improvising.

It's been a fantastic recruiting too for us, but getting harder and harder to find good locations that are not overcrowded.

In '07, I think it was- we did some great pics in locations like the parking garage, up ramps, around sides of cool looking buildings, although whose idea it was to have us run up the damn hill...

Another year, Dom and I planned "scenes" around the fronts of damn, what hotel was that? Anyway, it had curves, cover, good locations.

While I'm not participating this Sweep, I hope our past efforts can help the future planning efforts.

Sean and Tony have been working hard to make this Sweep another Classic!

We are considering a walk thru on Thurs or Fri. It's also to choreograph how we move, where we get attacked, how we get picked off and how/where we eventually retreat in defeat in true 'Aliens' fashion. This way we don't look like a confused gaggle. This is our moment to shine with some real street theater. Let's try to get it right. OH, and the walk thru you will NOT be required to be in costume. We actually prefer if you are NOT in costume so we can keep our sweep a surprise.

I'm all for having a text group on FB or whatever to keep all sweep marines posted on rehearsal times and updates. I'm also for trying to accommodate times to be adjusted for xenos. WE NEED THEM BAD!
The plus side to that is most of the sweep the marines do the work. The xenos just need to attack in the last 10 mins or so. They just need to hide then pounce at the coordinated moment.

Sweep marines, PLEASE HAVE YOUR SPEAKERS RIGGED IF YOU PLAN TO DO SO! WE ALSO NEED SOME SOUND FX.

Exactly my point - with the logistics of each event, it's pretty near impossible to do both.

That is the problem with a packed program like D*C. I had to choose between Street Judges and USCM due to luggage and time constraints. :(

Amber has basic sound which is nevertheless loud as hell. I could give that to Stew and adapt it to an MT sound loop.

I will prob avoid the DC shoot and come to the sweep. I missed the shoot last year and the sweep. I can always try again next year. Can't do both as mentioned above it's just impossible!

Chris Duplis has kindly loaned me his motion tracker w/ effects. So that's one more for the sweep, with the (understandable) caveat that it will ONLY be carried or handled by individuals known to/trusted by the owners.
