The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I would like to join in but will need to peel off early to get back to the table by 1600. I guess I will be the first guy picked off who mysteriously disappears from the rear.

Someone sent me clip of the sweep from her crappy camera.... I put it together for a short film.

Love the quote: "Because we're good at it that's why!"

(what did Jerome ask?)

Cool vid. :)

I think I said something like "Why do we always get the shitty jobs, anyway?" - or something to that effect.

I will be posting sound effect ideas for this years sweep. I hope to put together a short tutorial film of how I rigged my pulse rifle for sound and options on equipt and wiring. Easy to do with remote speaker and iPod.

I will get to work on that in a few weeks. The vid will be only a few mins long. I'll also post remote speaker options (best brands and models based on my research, however, I am NOT an expert on this. So please do your own research). As Outcry has said to me, he wants his smartgun to 'ROAR'! I agree with this completely! But the only way to accomplish that with a man portable unit is with expensive speakers. Yes, more than one speaker mounted on your person at the hip and/or perhaps strapped to bottom of gun. Some of the speaker models I have seen can be disguised as part of your military equipment. And you can easily conceal them in thigh-rig pouches like I did with mine. Marines with pulse rifles will have fewer options. The speakers will have to be strapped to your body depending on your preference. Smartgunners can attach their additional speaker to the bottom of the gun itself and it will blend nicely with it. Any speakers attached to a pulse rifle will stand out and make the gun extra bulky. Unless you use a smaller secondary speaker. I’m actually considering doing that. I have to see how well I can make it ‘blend’ with the pulse rifle without it looking too silly.

I hope to generate a lot of interest in this. A few guns rigged for sound is good, but having most (if not all) of our weaponry rigged will ROCK the sweep! Imagine raging gunfire shaking the walls of the Westin as the bugs attack. Something we didn’t have last year and greatly hindered dramatic effect. Our sweep may become something not only for us, but for the con to look forward to as a traditional D*con ‘street theater’ performance.

This is last years list.

Im still completely willing to be in the sweep with Amber but if we have enough bugs without me, Id love to be the embedded combat correspondent. 3 years of DCon and Ive never taken a single parade / sweep shot.

I hope the wedding might be scheduled later in the day so you can make it. Be tragic not to see you there. (Can we be flexible with the sweep time? If we can't have bugs there, it would be a bummer.)

Here is link to my YouTube vid on pulse rifle sound effects/speakers. It's about 5 mins long and just goes over the basics. If you have additional questions, just let me know.

I would love to see a bunch of us with sound during the sweep. I will only have the speakers attached for the sweep. I prefer not to have too much equipment attached to me when in costume, however, I may keep them on if I'm having too much fun ;)

Im going to investigate some kind of sound system for Amber as well. Im thinking of having the generic breathing / movement sounds from Alien Isolation playing on a loop for when Amber is prowling off on her own away from the Marines, then a separate track of pissed off / attack noises I can switch to when the groups meet.

Also, I can recommend the Anker Classic portable speaker from personal experience. I use it to provide music for the whole safezone / sign in desk at airsoft.

Thanks for the video Tony.
In the near future I plan to do a combination of
a) small onboard speaker for the smart gun and
b) a combination of bluetooth Speakers place where needed.

This way you have sound from the gun and enough loud sound coming from the walls.
The bluetooth transmitter is small to be put inside a M41A or M56A2.

Let's rock!
