The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Sweet. Thanks for the info. I have no problem with the host state being with the flags personally, if it came to a vote.

My kilt will be my family tartan and is the one I wore to the Saturday night dinner last year. I'll be bringing my own flag so just need a pole to attach it to.

EDIT: I didn't wear my C's to the parade last year as they didn't have the patches on them until less than an hour before the dinner at night!

Same flag as last year, Clay?
It was the right size, wasn't it?

We currently have 5 poles for flags (not including US pole). But I am purchasing 2 more poles and will add them to our parade kit. We'll be able to accommodate 7 flags this year! I think thats a good showing!

I strongly urge all flag bearers to have their Svc C's ready to go. If anyone is missing a uniform item, please post here so we can help you find it. Dom can get the correct trousers and cap emblem. (Scots: ignore trousers, the kilts are fine). Don't forget white gloves, you can get them cheap on e-Bay.

I've not had much luck finding gloves. Can someone help me find a pair? I think I'm a small.

Yeah, I've seen them. They're probably men's gloves so they'll be a good inch too big around the palm. I really need women's gloves.

OK found these which are specified as ladies gloves but they're only available in dozens

Mole, you really can't find women's gloves like that. I have tried. They need to be cotton, not nylon, and parade gloves are unisex. I will see what I can find downtown, but to be honest, they are only for one time use in the parade, so if they don't quite fit ok, then so be it. Us women can't be choosy when it comes to this.

One size fits all doesn't though. I have really small hands. :(

I've found these. Think I'll order a pair. They're cotton so I could always try shrinking them if they really are too big.

White gloves don't need to fit perfect. We also have a few spares with the parade kit but I think they are large sized. Please don't kill yourselves over the gloves, as long as they don't look like oversized mittens, you should be just fine.

Vicky, don't stress, we all know you'll look great during the parade! Cheers.

If you have access to a good sewing machine, you can flip the gloves inside out, stitch the glove to take in a bit more material, trim the excess and flip em right side out. it is a bit of pain, but if the glove is absolutely too big, it is a workaround. But it is not easy.... At least not for me. ;)

I check this section frequently but somehow this thread got past me! Just thought I ought to check with you all. It looks like everything's already good to go. I'd be honored to be part of the Color Guard again this summer. :delta:

That said, I volunteered to carry the Japanese flag in 2011 for the 25th anniversary of Aliens as I though it would be a good idea for Japan to be represented as part of the Aliens Legacy. I also felt personally compelled to do so after the horrific earthquake and tsunami we had here earlier that year. Truth be told, I'm not Japanese, nor do we have any real Japanese members in our group yet. In any case, I will carry the Hinomaru again this summer if that's to be my assignment. :)

My Charlie uniform is currently undergoing a few upgrades but will be finished in near future. I've also been working on my Dress Blue uniform for the past couple of years and was hoping for a chance to wear it in the parade sometime. If I can make it to D-Con in 2014 I'd be honored to be able to wear it in some capacity as part of the Color Guard. I'll be turning 60  in June (I honestly never expected to live even half this long), so no telling how many more chances I'll get to wear it. Anyway, really looking forward to seeing you all again in September!

I do, for a little longer than I lived in my own native country now, as weird as that feels sometimes.

Anyway, I'd like to find some folks here (I'm sure there must be some) who'd be interested in joining our group and even participating in drops like Atlanta some day. Problem is my job leaves me little time for much else, but if I possibly can I'll see if I can track down some Japanese Aliens fans who'd like to join us.

Hey, just thought I'd chime in here that people shouldn't worry too much about gloves for the parade. I'm a member of the Honor Guard / Color Guard for my police department, and so I'm around this often doing funerals, parades, events, etc.

The gloves don't have to fit perfectly, and they'll get dirty regardless... so just wash them. As long as they aren't flopping about several inches off of your fingers, you should be fine.

Yeah, finger length was my biggest worry. If the gloves were too big there'd be a strong chance that I'd drop the flagpole and no-one wants that to happen.

As I said, the gloves I have now fit OK and I'm good to go. :)

That was me last year! My hands are so small, I almost dropped the rifle half way through the parade because my gloves started to fall off!
