Due to scheduling conflicts the date has been moved. They will be doing a halloween and fanboy dual event. They are expanding into additional space in world fair's park.

We are hoping to have a fan table at least.

In light of the success with cuddles the face hugger on an RC car, I would recommend the roaming group idea. We got tons of residual interest in our table when I roamed the floors with cuddles.

We will need help staffing the table and getting more folks in costume.

We are looking at staying at the Hampton Inn downtown. The nightly rates are slightly higher, but, they have microwave meals which can cut down on your residual meal costs substantially...

Just saw on Facebook that Bruce Campbell is going to be there as a guest. That about guarantees that I am there.

Along those lines they have stated they will be bringing in more Horror guests to go with their "Halloween in July" theme, so fingers crosse they can squeeze in some Alien(s) guests as well.

Yes the Bruce announcement has made my day. Now I need to finish my chainsaw to have him sign. Meeting him and getting his autograph at Walker Stalker was unreal. As for us getting a table, this has not been guaranteed yet. I heard back from them this weekend. They will not be giving out any tables until they finalize the floor layout. That being said the request is in. I have also requested 2 spots for this event so we can do the charity foam dart shooting range. Like I said in previous posts I have been bothering Mr Spencer in the UK. Working the booth at the NSC over there in 2015 was great and something I want to bring over here. Right now the charity will be St Jude children's hospital. I will be working on getting the items together. Depending on what I bring will determine where I stay. The convivence of being next door might over weigh other factors. Once I get more information it will be posted. Update on the background for the photo is that I might have to resource. The company I was going to order from has had their supplier close shop. This has put all immediate orders in doubt. I am looking for someone around here. I would like to get new banners, cards, and the photo backdrop printed at the same place. Again hope you can make it. If we do get the extra booth, we will need all the help we can get with both the table and shooting range.

Thanks!

Greg

Just wanted to let everyone know once again we will have a fan table at the FanBoy Expo July 12-14 2019 in Knoxville Tn.
https://fanboyexpo.com/
https://www.facebook.com/fanboyexpo/
This year will be huge as FanBoy is combining their 2 yearly events into one. They are also spreading out. They are working on the layout so not for sure where we will be located. Here a post from their Facebook page.
Quote:
Ok we haven't pushed the outside stuff too much because we were waiting to get all the ducks in a row. But CHECK THIS OUT! Yes its super busy and my artwork is lame but it gives you an idea of the general set up of Fanboy Expo this July. In total its more than 300k sq ft of space! More than double what we had last year. In addition, we will have 2 vendor halls, a huge area for photo ops, a massive q&a hall, lots of fun foods, places to sit, and after con events on both Friday and Sat in the amplitheater! We are excited(and a little nervous) because this year we really do takeover downtown Knox. We can't wait to see you all there! http://www.fanboyexpo.com

1 week away!

Greg/Joker - We are bringing 4 'family costumes' for the full 3-day weekend (only gearing up "aliens" style Friday), so space in the truck may be tight. I will be sure to bring an egg.
Will my mannequins be needed? If not mannequins, what about display outfits for someone else's mannequins? No promises on either of the last two, but if they will be useful I will try to make them fit.

If anyone else reading this will be there, don't be afraid to come say high. Of course we will be at the fan table as best we can. If not there, look for the "futurama family" saturday morning, "early 90s X-force" saturday evening, and the "princess bride" family Sunday morning.

I have bad news. Looks like I have a complete right bicep tear and will be having surgery next week. So no Fanboy for me. I tore it Friday June 21st. We were hoping it was a sprain but the bicep started to retract up my arm indicating a complete tear. I had a MRI yesterday and meet with my doctor/surgeon Monday. Looking at Wednesday for the surgery. I will be in a splint/restricted brace for the next 3 months so depending on my rehab the tables at ICCC and Memphis are in question. Me going to Dragoncon is also up on the air all depending on my recovery. I will miss seeing everyone.

Good news is I got more can koozies made and will be showing them off.

Thanks!

Greg

Sorry to hear that You will not be attending Greg as I really enjoy your company. Please get better as tears are no fun.

I have a couple of local folks that will be helping with the table. I am slowly trying to add local users and build up the group here locally.

Please advise of what eateries you all want to eat at in the evening and I can try to make arrangements.

Also they have a food truck park at the convention center. Knoxville is regionally reknowned for our food trucks that are based out of this town.

I will check-in on Wednesday to sort out power, parking, and load-in/out times and post an update then.

Very cool!
I did swing by the booth earlier in the day and spoke to your wife and later in the day someone else who was looking after the booth.
It was a good event. I heard some folks were waiting three hours for a Bruce Campbell autograph.

We got the photo and autograph with bruce on Sunday, 1 hour wait for each. I will be doing a video at home detailing the current backpack in a little detail before I go through my next round of upgrades.

I will ask the board if there is anyone local as I need help with the table on the October Fanboy event as I will not be able to get that weekend off.

That someone else is one of the gals we go to church with and is one of the best colleagues I have met in cosplay. She and her son had a lot of fun helping at the table.

The Bruce situation was wild. I am glad I got his autograph a couple years ago and didn't need to deal with that.

Overall we had a great time too. Didn't get to hang out at the table as much as we planned, but my son LOVED the video game setup. That was a nice addition and he was finally introduced to the classic Aliens and AvP arcade games. Thanks Gabe.

Overall I think a great time was had by all.

You put quite an effort in it.

I like the "smaller" M240 version. Very well done.

It was fun but crazy. The local help was a great relief and I am working on building some costumes as a result. I am also going to work on the female costume from AVP as wifey was agreeable to it (not revealing or risqué at all).

Token game Tavern has an aliens extermination arcade so I can get measurements! They were even agreeable as they liked the idea of a more portable bar top version of the arcade. It runs on a Pentium 4 setup and I can get a 3 game setup for about 600 (just the underlying hardware piece.) Plus the cost of a 55" lcd display and some lumber.

As I am partial to the ghostbusters, I have asked them to source me a licensed copy of their arcade and I will build them one for their tables. If I can not attend events with them I can at least provide some material support in the free time I have in my absence.

once hour wait each for: bruce campbell autograph, bruce campbell picture, richard dean anderson autograph, richard dean anderson photograph. It was nuts but they tweaked things to go a hell of a lot quicker this year.

The other person at the table was Rebekah. And she is a member from our local church that happens to love cosplay. I will be assisting in getting her costume assembled. Her conservative costume was very refreshing.

I will be working on getting some more of my props encased in clear acrylic such as the motion racker and smart gun demo setups. I have parts on order for that as the m2 screws have to be ordered online.

If you can score me a link to some side art for the bar top arcade please let me know as that is the only thing missing on it.

I have posted links to ALL parts for the arcade if you want to build one yourself. They are a simple yet rewarding setup with the JAMMA harness setup. Just remember to get the twist-lock style connector for the buttons.

I am trying to score some local help for the October 18 fanboy. I have to work that weekend.
