The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Decided to hit the Raleigh SuperCon this year.

http://raleighsupercon.com/

Doesn't seem to be any Aliens-universe related guests, but still looks like a fun event. I may only be their Saturday, but I'll be bringing my crew (the family) and we'll be in costume. Anyone else in the area hitting this up?

My squad will be on deck for the weekend. My hometown! I wish there were more Legacy members in the Raleigh/Durham area.

Out of my budget range for the year I am afraid.

I'll be there with my family all day (self = ski, wife = Vaz, son = hicks, daughter = newt). I'm sure ya'll won't miss us!

Around 8pm the plan is for my sister-in-law to pick up the kids and then my wife and I will then 'hit the town'. Do some of the later events. Hit us up!

Obi Wan, since youre volunteering, do you now if theres any form of pulse rifle that would be ok for this con? seems this year is more strict. Are you gonna have a pulse rifle there?

I do not know. The con hired a contractor that will be handling weapons checks. I will inquire on Friday and pass the word here. I'm hoping to tote mine around on Saturday.

Holy Schniky's. Seven warned me about the policy, but I finally got around to reading it.... Looks like foam is basically all we are allowed to bring! I am wondering if a flame unit may even get axed. I know it isn't worth the trouble to try for the pulse. My wife may not even get through with her 'pistol'.

So either of ya'll ever been to this before? Any insight into the DJ Dance party (star wars theme) or "Burlesque" shows? Worth while as late night events or better off hitting the local bars?

I will see how strict the prop enforcement is tomorrow. That prop policy sure looks rough. I have all my stuff orange tipped. This is only the second Supercon in Raleigh. I didn't do any late night stuff last year but I'm not positive there even was any. No clue as to the bar scene down there. They do serve beer on the convention floor.

STRICT. Most weapons are a no go. No resin, airsoft, or replicas unless they are obviously fake. Very few guns have been around. Leave the pulseys at home unless it's foam or a nerf. And I haven't seen too many nerfs either.

Best guess on a flame unit? Looks pretty fake to most i would think....

Also do you think they will flag belt tools or metal 'grenades'? I have had issues with the grenades looking like "real ammo" before

Belt tools have got to be good, I cant imagine them not. Same with the grenades I would think. The flamer will be grey area but I'm leaning towards it passing because it cant be confused with an existing gun. Never know these days.

Definitely great fun and looking forward to next year! We had a great little crew. Always fun to see old pals, meet new people and put faces to 'screen names'.

I lost my hat saturday night. Seven, the next local con is in Durham in November. Bull City Comic-con. Smaller venue, decent party at the armory.

Just 12 bucks. I've had a helmet kit sitting on a shelf for a year now. I'll get around to it.
