so what is the deal with these late night events?

80s concert Friday night and "totally bitchin party" (which was advertised as an 80s prom earlier?) Saturday?
Anyone doing either?

Im assuming bitching' party/80s prom is fine with all 80s styles, not just pastel suits with the sleeves pushed up.

fanboy keeps attracting known music icons. 80s night is a concert of the talent they have.

Fanboy is wanting to try and compete with DragonCon.

I had tried and arranged a tandem option of the holiday inn bar as an option. several local bars are open until 3am and are within a mile or two and perfect uber driving distance.

And first I heard of the prom part.

I have been saving money so I am game either way.

I could have sworn that I read 80s prom on Saturday earlier when I bought my tickets. I see now they are calling it a "totally bitchin' party". It's in the list of things the VIP ticket gets you automatically.

I have edited my post. I would assume that still falls very much in line with the 80s theme, and I'm down. If only i could roll in with a bitchin' camero.

I think they are still trying to hash out the marketing. The couple of months leading up to the expo fanboy tends to get crazy.

The autograph prices are up on the fanboy site now...think I would have to take a second mortgage! Ah well...probably cost a bunch to get these folks there.

OK, we have kind of agreed to one USCM event drop in Knoxville at one Fanboy a year. The timing falls really close to Dragon con so things will be tight. I will continue to chip away at props.

Back home now after a fun drive through non-stop torrential rain, but very well worth it to meet the mighty USCM, as well as (of course) the amazing Aliens cast/crew guests. I've heard stories about how all of them are still very much a family, and seeing them interact with each other and how close they still even remain 31 years later, and how sincerely happy they are interacting with their fans, I can see why Aliens continues to be such a timeless and flawless masterpiece. I hope to see you all again, and meet more of you, soon. Oohrah to ashes! :)

Finally got a minute. Great event everyone. Loads of fun.

Personal highlight was by far my wife meeting her hero. Jeanette is so cool.

My son meeting "his guy" was amazing too
(*we showed my son the parts of the film from when everyone wakes up to when they find Newt. It was enough for him to know how awesome everyone is!)

Couple new friends and a couple old getting ready for the costume contest (we entered as a group, but lost out to an 80s style wrestling quartet of Macho man, Rick Flare, Sting, and Sgt. Slaughter)

Panel was good. Some new stories I hadn't heard (which I think is rare!). Bummer Biehn kinda bailed as he was filling ill and Kash didn't make it because his filming ran late. "Spunkmeyer" was only there sunday.

All in all, great event. Great seeing everyone again and meeting the new people. Was a very "cozy" event. Very accessible and welcoming.

Bigbisont, I didn't realize when we met at the expo the guy with the Smart Gun was your father, that's excellent. Your son's armor also looked fantastic, I was amazed at all the little details like the helmet camera, etc. It all got me inspired to get me own kit done!

If you liked the October event, you'll like the June event. There are two per year, the June one is the larger of the two with more stalls and more people. Probably a 1/4 to 1/3 bigger.

I have separate threads for the two upcoming events.

Ditto on the costumes. I was extremely impressed and pleased with every one's costumes.

I was even appreciative of all the positive comments on my costumes.

I was Joker on Friday, Predator on Saturday, and A cobra trooper on Sunday.

Guys all I can say is this event was awesome. It blew DragonCon out of the water. The amount of people I talked to who were interested in Aliens dwarfed all my years at DragonCon. Even though we manned the table as much as possible the time flew by with all the interest. I am proud to say we have been asked back for the June show and I have a fan table set to go. This time we will be more prepared and have a lot more props. This is the way things should be! Looking at Farpoint and ShoreLeave next. I got to talk to everyone for lengths of time except Bein. He was swamped 24/7. The guys at ADI went out of their way! They also offered for us to contact them if we need any tips. Giving it an AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA+++++++++++++++++++++!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Thanks!

Greg

Thanks man. And I def have my eye on the June event. It isn't all that often that I can find worthwhile events so 'close' (under 4 hr drives) from me.

Remember the room issues at Dragon Con? We don't have that issue at Knoxville yet. Please reserve your rooms now for the upcoming events.

And the June event was awesome. I loved everyones costumes you everyone gave me so many ideas on how to improve mine. And I loved the comradarie. And I also loved the fact that even differently done everyone's costumes looked positively awesome.
