The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I know there is a thread about this event lower down the page but I figured an actual drop thread was in order for people to put their names down on. Anyone going to this one?

Details of the show are here

Trying desperately to get pred suit to a state of being done enough. I am off work that weekend, and would be awesome to go to my 1st con and meet a bunch of people i have spoke to via phone/msn and AL.

I guess you realise: you would be welcomed with or without Pred?

Also, try your best to stay for the evening activities!

Do we have an idea of accomodation for this one yet?

If nothing's been arranged yet, I can definitely recommend the Clovelly B&B that Claire and I used for Memorabilia.

Clovelly is just a few minutes from the NEC up in Marston Green.
A double costs £55 a night for 2 people and includes a 4-course breakfast - Cereal, toast, coffee/tea/OJ, fry-up.

The staff are very friendly, the rooms are small but well-equipped (irons, hairdryers, Wi-Fi, DVD players and stuff) and they can accomodate up to 20 people.
Also, they're used to putting up bikers who come for the motorcycle museum nearby, so they should be fine with a bunch of Marines!!

Sounds like a plan Woody. Is this the one?: http://www.a1tourism.com/uk/clovelly2.html - Doesn't look like they do online bookings. Is there a pub nearby? :D

I'll be driving up for this one; so Glenn, Gemma and anyone else in the the London area is welcome to join me for the ride. Rick, is it easier for you to get to my place than all the way up?

Aye, that's the one!!

Pubs start from about 600 yards away and there are plenty of 'em.
According to the owners, food is a plethora of takeaways, pubs, restaurants, all within walking distance. However, we never got around to that part as we piled in with the rest at the Premier Inn this time.

I can sort out more info and maybe get us a flat rate fee per person for a group booking. However, this would need people to commit 100% to this Drop as the B&B will want a guaranteed attendance.

OK, that's 7 probable/definites with potentially 10 attending so far.

Are we doing the Friday and Saturday nights (including parties) or just the Saturday?

Also, we're liable to have three or four 3-berth rooms. Is sharing OK with people?
Can those with preferences sort out who you're sharing with amongst yourselves?

AWWRIGHT, LISTEN UP MARINES!!!!

Stan, the talkative and friendly proprietor at The Clovelly, has offered us a flat rate of £25 per person each night for a group of 7-10. More can be accomodated at the same rate if needed.

The rooms will be twin beds and/or 2+1s (2 Twins and a Double) as required.
Singles available, but at different rates.
Facilities are small, but great (see weblink above for full info).
Breakfast from 7-9am.

Pubs start from 500 yards down the road, with numerous takeaways nearby and Harvester/Beefeater type places just a little further, bus services to Marston Green and NEC.

I've secured us a provisional booking for Fri and Sat nights, so let me know who's staying when ASAP and I'll confirm.
Payment is to be cash please, sorted just after breakfast on the Sunday.

Any other questions?

Afore anyone asks - You get out of this chicken-shit outfit in 4 more weeks. :D

I wouldn't mind a lift, but I won't be able to leave work before 1pm that day if you're planning on leaving earlier.

Nah, I'd be leaving later than that on the Friday. I'm not too concerned provided we arrive in time for the meal/drinking/social etc! :)

Thumbs up for the hotel booking price. I'm still in for Fri and Sat nights.
