Hey Fraz

Personally, I would prefer to stay somewhere nice and close to the NEC this time and not far from the motorway either.

The Express by Holiday Inn is only 0.5 miles from the NEC. There is a Pub/Restaurant next to it and also a bar in the hotel itself. The rooms are £69 for a twin room per night including breakfast and there are doubles with a sofa bed if 3 want to share which are £99 Per room per night. So for 2 people it would be £34.50 each. For the closeness and convenience I would prefer this one. They have rooms available at the moment.

Was it the Prince hotel we stayed at last time? If it was then their bar closed really early if I remember and there was nothing much close by for food and drinks.

What does everyone think?

Darren

It wasn't the Prince Hotel we were in last time.. It was the Portland Hotel. It is in the same area. Since the UKG were about there last time. There was a TFI fridays with walking distance.

I thought a triple single room with breakfast for £54.95 was ideal.

If we get everyone who wants a room all in one place and book all at once maybe there will be a bulk discount too?

You guy's have previous experience so I guess Karyn and I will go with the flow.

If I remember rightly Darren, a Kentucky was an essential consideration! :)

Hey Guys

I think it comes down to whatr people are willing to pay for the hotel at the end of the day.

My reasons for wanting to stay at the Holiday Inn are:

It is very close to the NEC so quick to get there in the morning, more time to get ready and have breakfast

Quick to get back at the end of the day, and dont have to drive through loads of traffic etc.

Close to the motor way and easy to find.

If Al is staying at a hotel I imagine it will be close to the NEC also and if he is up for a drink we will be closer to him.

If Al is not up for a drink there is pub and restaurant next to the hotel so we dont need to get a taxi anywhere.

The hotel has a bar.

I remember the last one at Mem and I seem to remember everyone wishing we were closer to the event. Or that might just have been me muttering to myself :)

Anyways, I'll go with the flow I guess but this would be my preference.

Darren

There is the crown plaza hotel, this is on the NEC grounds:
www.necgroup.co.uk/pdfs/p...tePlan.pdf
£74 a night for two with a double bed and sofabed, no breakfast. You can use their car park (no NEC parking fee) and walk to the halls in a few minutes easy.

Premier Travel Inn also on the NEC grounds, bit further out but has shuttlebus stop nearby, see plans above for where it is.
£67 a night for two in a twin room.

Both these are based on staying Fri and Sat night.

Hey Simon

Thanks for the map, very handy.

I phoned the crown Plaza and they quoted me £99 per room per night plus an extra £25 for anyone over 2 people.

The premier travel Inn is the same distance as the one I mentioned but is slightly more expensive and does not include breakfast.

You can also see the Holiday Inn on the map to the right of the Travel Inn.

I'm just going on what I was quoted online for the 'Plaza, according to that its £74+£25 for the third person - not £99+£25 for 3.

As to the PTI its actually in the grounds so you won't have to pay the £10ish parking fee (twice) I think.

Whatever we do we need to do it ASAP 'cos i've noticed places are going 'full' on those dates.

As for breakfast, take some cornflakes & a bowl/spoon and a small carton of milk (which u can stick in their fridge) - done this at the Plaza before :) cheap bast that I am.

OK, I vote for the Travel Inn then. I just double checked with the Holiday Inn and their parking tariff sucks major arse. There is no parking fee for guests at the Travel Inn.

I will be most likely be staying the Friday night as well as the Saturday. And my above statement was wrong about it being slightly more expensive per night. It is actually slightly cheaper.

Being on site would be very preferable I think. i would like to book a room as soon as poss like Sidewinder suggests but obviously want to be in the same hotel as the rest of the guys.

So perhaps we should just take a vote?

I vote travel Inn

Well, both FS and I have voted with our feet and booked in at the PTI. I believe FS has a bunk budy already :)

I'm looking for one now, so if you wanna share its a twin room NS, for the friday and saturday night and will cost you £67 total.
