| Post subject: | Sci-Fi In The Sidings 1st & 2nd April 2017 *revised dates* |
Some of you may be aware I'm quite heavily involved in railway preservation. I've just been made aware of an event that took place the weekend just gone at the East Lancashire Railway at Bury in Manchester. They held their first 'Sci-fi weekend' to test the water. They apparently had about 25 Star Wars, Dr Who and other movie characters, plus one of the surviving DeLoreans from BTTF and attractions aimed at kids. The lady I spoke to this afternoon didn't know the name of the SW group as she wasn't directly involved, but said there were about 15 Stormtroopers plus a Vader. They tell me they had over 2000 visitors which is far more than they were expecting, and they are now going to do the event again next year. I asked about a secure changing area and she said they have several rooms that can be locked. This is just to let you all know and to see if any of you might be interested in attending such an event next year for one or both days. What we would be doing is walking round the platforms and station areas, and possibly going on trains (foc to us) to appear at other stations on their line. They would ideally like as many different costumes as possible, but especially Stormtroopers, Marines and Xenomorphs. No date has been set yet, and I will keep you posted as the year progresses if there is any interest. Please reply if this appeals to anyone and I will inform the railway. |

| Post subject: | Re: Possible railway cosplay event |
I've just had a email from the railway setting dates for this event for 2017; the 8th & 9th of April. I've asked whether it will be an all-day thing or just evenings & as soon as I get a reply I'll post here. I also asked for confirmation there will be a secure changing area and complimentary refreshments. So this is just to advise of the dates they have picked, and to see what interest there is now from you guys & gals. If you could advise as soon as poss if you're interested, as I need to give them an idea of approximate numbers. |

Please note the dates have been revised to the 1st & 2nd of April (Saturday & Sunday). A secure changing room and refreshments will be provided. The event opens around 9am and finishes around 4pm both days, though there is no requirement for us to be there for 9am. Could people please indicate whether they might be interested in attending, as I need to let the organisers know approximate numbers. |

I'm potentially interested in joining you guys, but it's dependant on work commitments and clashes with other events etc (there were at least 3 events clashing this weekend and 2 next I'll have to see nearer the time, but would love to troop with you guys! |

I've had a further request from the railway to ascertain who might be attending this event. We need to say whether we will attend on the Saturday or Sunday, I suspect Sunday would be better for travelling to it with less road traffic. So far those who have expressed interest are ;- Me Boltrig Capn Thrag Spiderpool Hybrid Simon T Can you folks please advise asap whether you are still interested in attending? |

So far, it looks like it's only me and Hybrid. Any others likely to be coming? The Sunday is looking the best day, easier travelling. |

I've just had more info from Nicola- Car parking available on a first come first served basis in the museum car park located next to Castlecroft Garage – BL9 0LN (Parking available from 8am). In the event the museum car park gets full, additional parking will be available in Bolton Street Station Car Park (BL9 0EY) however a car parking permit will need to be obtained from the Information Office or Booking Office inside Bolton Street Station. Refreshment passes for your costumers/staff will be given to the group costumer leader – to distribute to your own costumers/staff. This will entitle each performer a complimentary drink, snack and sandwich from our buffet. |
